Mark and Ted's Excellent Adventure in Drama

When did I miss going from filming naked women to giant robots?.. Well giant robots are cool... but what if they attack a slumber party..or what if they where giant lesbian vengeful robots...or err I just sorta got up......

Ok, you are going to think I'm kidding when I say this but I am not. Seriously. I love the idea of a slumber party - hotties in lingerie and then giant robots. So friggin' over the top that it would be an awesome satire. For instance, I don't really like most of the Scary Movie franchise but the scene in one with Pamela Anderson is really great because it makes fun of the whole b-movie hottie thing and also manages to have some pretty sexy shots. I say we go for it.

actual review of TTN

When I first pressed play I was like Damn this looks like a movie(I imagine the mpg is better). Then I actually paused it to go get the wife., Started it over to enjoy the show.

I enjoyed the movie as a whole all the way through,. the locations the sets very nice. I had figured there was going to be a fireball at the end, but you guys kept the emotion high and I was routing for him..great production value great score wish I was half as good.

As I Said the Camerawork the lighting the sound all great all flow well. The acting was ok, as has been said some of it seemed forced, BUT it didn't take away from the movie. The special effects where ok, but again it for me didn't take away from the movie I beleive you could have chucked a fisher price plane in the dirt and made it look ok :) The only FX scene that took me out for just a sec was the cockpit shot going down the runway. It reminded me of old police shows like "Adam12" or "streets of SF"

I really enjoyed this!!! I hoping to get the directors cut :)

I am so buying a ticket to the west coast :)

Ted is working on a longer cut that should be done this month some time and I'm really excited to see it.

Interestingly, the original story is different than what we developed for this short. In the original story, the plane crashes, but in a more controlled descent so that Eric survives, though terribly injured. Jasper Colburne, who allegedly performed the stunt, had completely disappeared off the face of the earth and was, thus, a true legend. He had bragged about doing the stunt and a handful of pilots saw him fly but disputed whether he had really done it. Rumors were rampant about the feat and as to what happened to him. some 40 years previously. Well, in this version after the crash we see Eric in the hospital, miserable and alone. His door opens and an old man enters and approaches. It's Jasper Colburne. He tells Eric that he lost his nerve and flew low and behind the turbine blades to avoid what would be almost suicidal. He had flown to the desert where a trusted friend helped him dismantle his plane and he had been living in disgrace and anonomity in Mexico ever since. So there's this final scene where the two men sort of get redemption by accepting their failings and forgiving each other.

Of course, the longer story allows you to see what a great man Eric was and you see how he became a lost soul through the loss of his family.

Anyway, that's the story in a nutshell.

Kevin, I would not DREAM of shooting the Slumber Party Giant Robot film without you. I didn't know if you would be down for it, though. I mean hot girls in lingerie and giant robots might seem juvenile to some. On the other hand, for some reason I kind of figured Blaine would be ready to board ship. :) So, man, I am totally serious about this and think it could be one of the really memorably amusing shorts made. People have gotten too serious and too politically correct. I have been reading about bud.tv and how they apparently are going to be soliciting some shorts that appeal to their demographic market. What could be better than lingerie and giant robots?

Was this supposed to be fun? 'Cause I had fun watching it.

Oh God yes!!! This was airplanes and explosions and bitchy tight-ass government officials... It was fun to make and was supposed to be fun to watch. I especially like the Tommy character as he sips out of both coffee cups during the argument. Such a little weasel! Tommy rocks!

That goes without saying...I'M IN!!!!!!!

DVXers, we are really going to shoot this. Tim just signed up and with Kevin and Blaine on board we can really make this happen. I'm working on the script right now. Ted, see why you GOTTA get out here???? Is this motivation enough? :) :)

OK, I really want to do this and I think we should consider pulling out a few stops on this one. Lets not be hindered by artificial constraints, rather lets make a really great exploitative flick. I mean we are in the best part of the world to get a film like this made. All we have to do is not make any mistakes and we could have a really marketable product. These things are really easy to take to something like AFM and get real distribution.

This time I want to make certain we have all the pre pro done so we can really make the best use of our time.

So, lets go make a movie!

I can definitely do exploitation. We saw all kinds of it on display at AFM...

I agree. Not artificial or arbitrary constraints.

Kevin, you are so on target. As I've been saying, one of the things I am MOST grateful about with respect to TTN is the ability to now look at how we would do it differently if we could. Preproduction is a necessity and we would need to get the effects done at least to the point of full test renders.

This one is greenlighted in my book!
