Mark and Ted's Excellent Adventure in Drama

Courtney, if we do a feature based on Chateau D would you be willing to play one of the mole-girls? I am smelling oscar here.

Hey this isn't Courtney this time.

Don't let her kid you, she isn't still in high school (she graduated when she was 15) but I too think that I recognize a few of those girls. I seem to recall seeing two or more of their images on the back of a milk carton somewhere recently?

I loved it! It felt big (a lot of these competition films seem really small). The acting was great, everything. I'm in the aviation business and it seemed very realistic (except the faux Top-Gun scene, especially that one extra who thought he was Maverick). The flight scenes were great, nice emotional current throughout. On the soundtrack, is that the Armenian Duduk I hear?? I love that instrument! Did the composer play it or how did he get it?

Thanks Shawneous!!!!! I'll let Herman explain what the hell he's doing on the score. I want to know myself! We are laughing about your comment regarding the "extra who thought he was Maverick" ... there's a story there that we'll tell sometime. .... THANKS AGAIN for the kind words.

This film was a lot of fun ! The cast, the talent, it felt like the real deal. It was engaging from start to finish.

Productoin value really comes through with locations lke these and such a talented cast.

You guys did a fine job !

.02

I was removed form the element a few times on the green screen and the explosion; I was not sold on it. I was not expecting ILM magic, but this bordered on an SNL skit. :P

I would liked to have seen a more likable character developed. The pilot came across as this gruff, unlikable felllow (Which I get was part of the point), but I found it hard to route for him in the end, and then, when the guy dies and I'm like 'Noooooo'. That's no fun !

I think this pilot was miscast more than anything; a mor edebonair FLYBOY may have worked better for me, and of course not crashing and burning

But ..............

Overall, A very fun experience. A couple of your actors just had some real chops. I look forward to more work from this team ! All of the ingredients are there, now its a matter of the right measure !

Bravo !

John, thanks so much for those notes. All well taken. We got screwed on the explosion as I had made arrangements for some footage from Bob Forward and first UPS lost the CD, then when it came it had the wrong files burned on it and the final came on Wednesday at about 10:30 a.m. Seriously. When I have time I'll replace that segment and spiff up some others. But it was a pretty ambitious project and I'm real pleased you enjoyed it.

This was fun. but the quality of the lighting was inconsistent. Some parts looked pro, some parts looked a bit ameturish. that was my major gripe. Also, the curisng sounded forced. I mean ,im all for cursing, but it has to Flowwwwww.... lol.

Good work Ted and MArk, Exciting FINISH!!!.

I know I was a part of the team who put this together... but I still think an objective review is in order :) I am proud to have been a part of this film!!

Story & Acting

Ok. This is a big story. I think the storyline and character development suffers quite a bit from the 6 minute time limit. I think the Eric/Lacey relationship isn’t strong enough for the audience to care at the end. I think this has amazing potential and I am really interested in seeing a longer cut, to allow the characters to develop. The acting was really quite well done, I thought Taylor was AMAZING. The pilots were “eh”. Everyone else was decent in their roles.

Technical
There’s a lot to the technical side of this film. First off production value was off the charts. Great BIG feel to the film, from the flashback with the emergency vehicles to the air-show crowd, the feel of a big budget piece was for sure here. The cinematography was something I had some issue with. Too many scenes were done in one shot, and I felt a lot of the scenes had mismatched color grading. A lot of this can be of course fixed in post. Now onto the effects. I LOVED everything except the side shot of Eric taking off, and the end explosion, those two effects took me out of it. That having been said, this is a monumental achievement for the time the effects team had to hammer this out. And, I know for a fact, most of the effects will go unnoticed 

Totally enjoyed it ! Felt very real ! You created that special world we all love about film ! I was there !

I really was bummed when he did not pull off; instead of being ambiguous, I was sad. :dankk2:

Totally fair comments. We learned a lot. I can honestly say that everything Kevin lit was extremely good (IMHO) but we grabbed a number of shots without his assistance or were forced to shoot some scenes in parts with some shooting at different times of day. This is the real beauty of this fest in that there is SO much to learn and profit from if you are open to look ... and these kind of comments especially show why it is important to shoot, shoot and shoot some more.
