Making the Sigma 30 1.4 focus smoother

Are there any how to articles on improving the focus feel of the Signal 30mm 1.4 (or any lens in general)? I am so frustrated with the ultra stiff and chunky feel of my Sigma. It makes manual focus a huge PITA. There is a Sigma repair facility very close to me, but I fear that they wouldnt do anything about this as its not really a malfunction, just a gripe.

I'm happy with mine (bought used off EBay). I would not describe the focus as 'silky', but for focus by hand it has been no harder to use than my Canon FD 28mm f2.0, which now sits in a draw.
 
I have the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and I agree it is rough to focus. I have several FD lenses and they are smooth as butter with a nice focus. The Sigma is indeed rough and not near as precise. Its a great lens otherwise but I agree it has a rough focus. I also find it doesn't jive well with a Follow focus.

Love the image out of it hate the lens mechanics.
