making money from youtube?

well i guess i have copy right even though he physically could put it on tv they should have contacted me for payment of copyright? I still should have copy right for broadcast tv?

You are right on copyright, it's just your still allowing them to broadcast it since you are virtually saying ok with the uploaded video if Yes is selected as the option.

I tried to get a partnership with youtube before but was rejected. I read that you need at least 500 subscribes.

I'm not sure if subscriber number is the only thing they look at.
Like most things at YouTube, I don't think it's black and white like that - it's a combination of factors.

We were invited to become partners (and even then it took a couple of months before the account was set up) - and at the time we got an invite I don't think we had more than a couple of hundred subscribers.
But we did have a show that we released consistently every week with a decent track record - and while at the time they weren't getting a ton of views, they were all consistently getting a few thousand in the first week or so.
So I'm pretty sure they look at a variety of things - subscribers, library of content, consistency of viewership and release, etc.

yeah your probably right. I don't know much about it. I have over 100 videos so I am pretty constant and they get views. So maybe when I hit 500 subscribes I will try to apply for the partnership again? but looking at your account you have over 1million channel views, 5million uploads, and 18 thousand subscribers! Thats awesome!!! Do you have any tips for me? I don't tag a bunch of stuff in my videos just my name.

Hey Brandon. When it comes to youtube it's not at all about your view count and subscribers. It's mostly about original new videos, and you upload videos on a weekly basis, or even a few weeks out of time. Now don't get me wrong view counts, likes, comments and subscribers all help with the process. My first experience i had with youtube was with me and my friend. He constructed and amazing new remix to a song, and i shot a music video to it, we got close to 5 million views on this video, then we did another remix, hauling in 500,000, and we continued making a few more songs racking in more then 2 million views. With this being said we had alittle over 15000 subscribers and close to 8 million views, and a few hundred thousand channel views, people loved our remixes better then the original songs. We applied for partnership and couldn't get it because they said our videos wasn't original? We figure it's because we may have used some parts of the original vocals in our mixes. We deleted this channel to start over fresh and original and now have a partnership and were ready to start over again haha. Anyway to get your partnership you mostly got to have completely original videos and with audition to that getting view counts around 10,000 per video and have a subscriber count over 500 helps. This is the very basic people they will accept, so hang in there, keep uploading your own videos, have at least 20 videos to really impress them and bam you'll get your partnership.

Update: Brandon i just viewed your youtube, you deff can get a partnership with that amount of videos, i notice you have about 2000 on each video and as long as their all completely made by you, i notice their mostly music videos thou of different people. Copyright will hold you back unless you made the song for these people such as Mac Miller and have writing consent to use his material.

Have you contacted them about using your clip? And how did they get your clip in the first place? If it was placed on youtube and they got it from there then it is subject to copyright, meaning you could possibly sue?

We are exploring becoming a partner right now. We didn't hear back the first time, but we aren't sure we submitted the right thing.

There's no dought you should have a partnership right now! Your video's are good/original, lot's of subscribers and lot's of views. But when applying it could take up to a few months for them to reply. When you filled out the application did it ask you questions such as (why do you think you should be a partner?) or something in that context? If so then you used the right application.

I'll ask the guy that runs our youtube channel, I've not been involved with that part as I've been slaving away in After Effects and Maya lately :) Gotta get our next episode out!
