Uh that brings back bad memories. I once asked a trainee for a lens while I was doing something to the camera. I head the case open, then a clank similar to that. All I could say i my head was please do not be the lense, please do not be the lens. Then out of the corner of my eye I see the lens cap rolling by as if karma was giving me the finger. That lens did not make it on the camera for quite some time.

I thought you guys would like that(or atleast have strong emotions for it)...I'm surprised it hasn't made the rounds. It's been up on youtube for 4 months and had 1 view when I found it.

Classic.

"Make it the 50!" lol

oh it is fake. Any AC would think twice pretending to toss a lens. None would. My guess is the lens was busted already.

I agree on the possibility of it being fake. Camera pulls back right before he throws it, he throws it before anyone even says "throw it" and there are flashlights following the ENTIRE thing.

I'm sure it's fake as well. Who in their right mind would throw a lens, and who in their right mind would proceed to shake the lens while listening to it and go to put it on a camera? LoLol..

Luckily I've never dropped any equipment, but the first thing I'd do if someone threw me something is scream for a light and start inspecting that thing....but while someone was fetching said light, I would be beating someone with a grip arm, lol.

Yeah, the camera anticipating the throw is a dead giveaway. Plus the fact that everyone's heads are turned from the camera as if to hide their snickers.

On top of that... really? If someone threw the lens I would fire their ass right away...

Copy that. I didn't even flinch when the lens hit the ground... because as I viewed it, I was in bigger shock/disbelief that he actually threw it. My guess is the same as someone said earlier... they probably had an old bum lens which was gonna get tossed and thought to stage the accident.

Look at the guys other videos... he's got footage from a Micheal bay film.... seems the person who shot the film is a 1st AC... as he is taking the video and pulling focus for MB at the same time.

That is micheal bay right?

the someone he's refering to is me, Everts :)

Actually you'd think they'd invest more time in this and think things though to really scare the **** out of dp's. Even better if the DP got Christian Bale on the AC would have been priceless.

No I'm certain that it's totally real... it's not like the handheld shot completely FOLLOWS the whole thing 100%... from outside of the action... to the lens case itself... to the complete follow of the throw FROM the case... THROUGH the air... TO the other guy's hands... as he misses it... and then STILL follows the lens as it rolls to a stop on the floor...

Um... oh yeah... yeah... the shot completely follows the whole action of the "scene"... but does that mean it's fake? Nah... I'm sure that was simply the best cameraman in the world... anticipating everything that happens with his ESP-spidey senses.

:)

Nobody... NOBODY would ever throw a lens like that... NO-BODY.

Really? The guy was just stupid. Who can't catch like that?

See, I just go the total indie way, when we need a crane shot or something, we just throw the camera up in the air like a baby. We slow everything down in aftereffects. It works really well.
