Video and Audio out of Sync on Big Exports

AVI, MOV have all been out of sync when exporting as a movie. Only making an MPG2 for DVD keeps things in sync.

Small (<10 minute) files have been great. Of course it's the big ones when we're ready to finish up that don't cooperate.

Any ideas? :cheesy:

I think that always happens when you use avi, I have a cable access show, where the first episode is out of sync (other problems happen where we basically had to use the raw footage). But your suppose to use mpeg for dvd's anyway. I assume you should export out as an mpg2, then convert it.

use the adobe media encoder to exprot everything. you can export as avi's and quicktimes there as well. ive never had any issues with synch when using the encoder. the straight export function should work as well, but its hard to judge whats goin on without knowing what version and codecs and all your using.

Thanks for the tip, making MPG2s for DVD is a piece of cake, but I'll try uncompressed AVI through the encoder option.

..ahhhh. yeah. there isnt. im not sure why i thought there was. i have some specialized hardware, but i still dont have avi export from there. just all the quicktime codecs. within the quicktime codecs you can use a .DV equivelent or the DVCPRO codecs, but yeah, avi's are only in the movie export dialog.

try switching your audio to sample accurate, and make sure that its actually in synch on the timeline, and then exort and play the file back within PPRO. sometimes when your working with HD data rate content or larger files, the media players (like WMP or QT) themselves will play the audio a little out of synch although its in reality in synch. they do this just because they choke for a second while starting to stream the file and as a result it gets out of synch on playback. generally if you pause the video and resume play, it will be in synch. when you import the file into an editor, you can take a look at the audio samples and see if they are actually out of synch or if the media player is just being lame. check that out first, and well see what it looks like.
