Magic Lantern high data rate for t2i... worth the effort?

Has anyone here tested Magic Lantern's hack for the t2i data rate increase?

Does image quality significantly improve from the default image?

Is it comparable to the image quality increase on the Gh13 hack?

Opinions appreciated.

No its not comparable, more data is not visible ,maybe if you check pixel by pixel.I mean data rates higher than regular one, cause in lower ones you can see decrese of quality.

If the quality gain is considerable, what about increased temperature and therefore quicker red warning icon followed by camera shutdown?

I was actually wondering this for ML as a whole, the use of zebras and histograms contribute to camera warming?

i have zebraas and audio meters off ,no cropmarks and anything from ML onscreen and i still get buffer overheat warning.
I think Qscale is the reason.

The other day I hit 114 Mbits per for a sustained 11 second clip. That alone was worth the few seconds it took to load magic lantern. Graded like a dream too...

I think it would be of enormous benefit if we could have some charts or tests posted? Matthew if you dont mine me asking - on the t2i what qscale did you have it set at for that many mbits?

:) Sounds like great progress is getting made with ML!

I haven't tested mine for that aspect but I sincerely doubt there will be any significant difference. The compression may be crappy on the T2i, 7D, etc., but the line skipping or pixel binning that's producing the moire and aliasing is how the sensor is read, not how its compressed.

In other words you'll get a slight quality increase from the decrease in compression, but the biggest causes of resolution loss (line skipping or binning) will just be baked in at a higher bit rate.

The zebras, histogram, AGC off, audio bars, etc are great though.

yeah coming from the GH-1 hack, the difference in the T2i is so slight it's not worth the risks as others have said the other features are more than worth it though.
