T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

Agree on that point. I'll post if I ever think of a good idea.

I use false colour all the time. Maybe the DOF preview button?

Im also noticing a problem in the last 3 or 4 build im having. I dont know if its a bug or my ignorance but the shutter speed always defaults to 1/44 but i always thought i should be shooting at 1/48 (double my 24fps) Is there a way to change what it defaults to? I just make a habit now of checking my shutter speed after each reboot/battery pull/card swap

DOF preview can't be "decoded" in movie mode. If the flash button would be assigned for changing display profiles, you will be able to configure it for either false color, or zebras / focus peaking, or picture style or whatever combination of items in LiveV menu. Is this a problem?

When you restart the camera, shutter speed should be restored to last value used (and it's done by Canon firmware, not by ML).

I think this would definitely be the way to go. With up to 4 picture profiles we have a number of display options available and the one button makes them fast and easy to cycle through.

This is how it works in 60D (with the Metering button, since Flash button couldn't be decoded). And users seem happy with that.

Yeah that does seem like a pretty nice way to work it. I guess i just need to get used to using display profiles. I dont really use them now but I really like the idea of having it cycle like that.

Hi Alex,
Apologies if this is not the thread for this but -
I was testing a 3rd party battery that I bought yesterday on t3i and when battery went in the middle of recording a couple of things happened.
First that particular file dissapeared. I remember reading before that is what happens.
But ML also seems to have been affected. Basically after inserting a new battery I couldnt record video any more. Every time I tried it went to the message movie has stopped recording automatically and the camera would hang, needing a battery removal. The only thing that sorted the problem was a complete change of cards. Does this problem sound familiar? thanks,
Grif (long time follower and supporter of ML)

Hi Grif,

when battery went in the middle of recording
The camera powered down without the "normal" shutdown procedure?

It seems you had some filesystem corruption, because the camera didn't have time to properly finish the writing process.

I believe you should be able to recover your particular file.

I don't remember having any problems with full cards on 550D/60D, but I'll check more.

Hi Alex, yea it just cut out. There was only a couple of seconds of the red battery empty flashing icon too. Must be crap batteries eh?

Its worrying that the card became unuseable after it happened. It needed a format and ml reinstalled before it would work for recording again. I could read all other files on it though, which was a good thing:)

Ive ordered 3 grips for my 3 t3is to hep me out some bit more with power related problems.
Also Ill need to watch the power bar carefully if im using these batteries.

Hi, does anybody used a monitor wich required a hdmi2div adapter? I have the HP ZR24W which has really naturall colours and contrast and would love to use it also for focusing help. But the camera seems to not output hd resolution.
Could it be possible to force the hd output?

Best Regards,
Dorian

I have no idea how these work, but you may try with "Don't click me" in July 8 build. It will call ChangeHDMIOutputSizeToFULLHD() from Canon firmware. The reverse (ChangeHDMIOutputSizeToVGA) was tested and works well.

Let me know if it works.

I know the exact resolution of the video files is 1920x1088 when I check with MediaInfo, maybe it's only that.
Would be weird, if the camera sends this as an hd output.
I was wondering if it sets the frequency to 50hz (PAL) but changing it to NTSC does not change it.

For bottom bar troubleshooting, please check the same thread again.
Hi, the bottom bar shows the following string: bottom bar debug: 1 ff125f7c 0
Also, the canon menu says 7.23GB free on my 16GB card. ML top menu says 3.2GB (free space raw: 237023; cluster size: 32768; current dig: 0)
Battery indicator is now: BAT=-1

I like the real shutter count display in the canon info menu, thanks for that!
