T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

New build 11 march is working fine for me. Vanilla loads when shutter half pressed. Zoom focus works fine when i press the plus button duing record. However, auto zoom does not work with my tamron 17-50mm lens. No real loss there still a great feature, well done Alex.

A1ex, is there any chance to specifically denote the changes in the manual from build to build because there are a LOT of changes and keeping up after the changes in the manual is not an easy task...

Thank you ! (Twice )

A1ex we believe you are best.
can you tweak the codec or something like autofocus?
crop mode from t3i?
more rack focus upto 5 or 10 position? improvment moire and aliasing?

codec, moire/aliasing, crop, seem unlikely, as they are done on the ASIC side of the DIGIC4 processor, and so far nobody knows how to reprogram that part (all the ML magic is done on the ARM side of the processor)

there's been some work done on the autofocus front, but it seems it needs some algorithm improvements

the rack focus thing is just a matter of improving the software, so it's just up to the magicians to dedicate their time to these things, or other stuff

Alex,
I'm curious about the false color. I find it too distracting to get all the bright blues and purples in the dark areas. Is there more than one choice for that ?. I didn't see one in whatever build I've got (early march). Fo me, I want to see 100% and something around flesh tone : maybe some colors around 50-70%- anything else is just noise to me . I guess something dark & not too distracting at absolute 0 would be OK as well. I don't know what choices you have on that and I feel odd asking for anything more. You have given us so much already.

You can design any color scheme you like. Here's the one used now:

uint8_t false_colour[256] = {
0x0E, 0x0E, 0x0E, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x77, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x72, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x31, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x07, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x36, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x52, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0xAE, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6E, 0x6F

The color codes can be found with gimp ( http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?238736-Cropmarks-for-ML&highlight=gimp ). I've copied this one from AJ (he made it look like the color scheme used by a Marshall monitor, if I remember well).

wait...

"Zoom In while recording:"??? really??? WOW, I wasn't expecting this!! :)

how is the resolution? do we actually get to see more detail when using the zoom (as with the 5x and 10x zoom while not recording), or is it a digital zoom that doesn't add any new detail?
I'll test it myself: time to upgrade to the new build!!

edit: yes, it adds detail; it's not full-screen but on "large" it is reasonably big; and it is amazing, thanks!!

I've been using the latedt Build (Mar 10) and it works pretty smooth. I'm loving the audio. Here's a test with my Rode VideoMic Pro, AGC defeated.

I have no idea if this audio is better than it used to be, but the clip is SUPER FUNNY!!
