T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

Wow- live zoom for focus is a KILLER TOOL!!!

I don't need an external monitor tethered to get good focus on the fly! This is awesome for my shoulder mount!!

I have no idea if this audio is better than it used to be, but the clip is SUPER FUNNY!!

Well, the audio before used the built in mic, and had horrible AGC bringing up every bit of noise from the background, so it's definitely better. One never wants agc going for any serious work, and I don't even like it on my non-serious work!

At about :58 you get a sense of the directionality of the mic when I am pointed at the older sister, and Talulah says "Pan to me!" off mic, then says "Rack to the milk" on mic.

Alex, If there's anything you can do to make that color scheme stuff more understandable to a non programmer like me it would help. I understand the idea of number codes, but not the relationship to luminance , nor how to go about adding this to magic lantern.

I just put in the latest build. I like that expanded focus (zoom for focus) box! But I don't know what it's called in the menu. I put my lens in auto focus, and that box is on all the time now. How do I turn it off?

OMG, zoom assist is freaking awesome! I prefer that way over focus peak... Kind of makes my letus hawk vf useless now =(

I got the latest ML going, the one that goes with the latest canon firmware 1.0.9. Works great. I used a PC. But I have a question about card maintenance:

• Once a card is made hard bootable will I have to remake it hard bootable if I format? It would be nice if one decided to format periodically, that they only need to replace the ML files on the card, rather than additionally having to make it hard bootable once again.

Anyone?

Here's the vid with links to all the things needed for the latest, greatest ML...

Chadfish, the same guy did this Mac tutorial:

UPDATE: And the new release has the command line instructions for Mac in the install PDF.

Thanks BluesGeek. I got it installed already. What I need to know is how to turn off that Zoom focus assist. Anyone?

it's in the manual

go to the ML menu, go to the focus assist, and there are three things you can change, one of them being "appear magically when I touch the focus ring", which I think is the one causing you this trouble

but I don't remember which button changed which setting, so, as alex said before, go to the manual

I've got bad old eyes, so I really like the focus assist, along with my 3X loupe.

Two issues I'm having with the Magic Box:

The box sometime stays on the screen as a brown horizontally-striped fill. I can refresh the screen to get rid of it.

I can use Small 2X or Medium 1X but Medium 2X is unusable flicker.

As a GUI request, I want to set it to appear when focusing, but only when recording and focusing (independent of the zoom toggle). Currently, if I set it to appear when focusing, it also does that before recording when I am using the Canon focus assist, at which point the Magic Box is in the way.

Flicker issues:

I know we're aware that the large box setting can have a lot of flicker.

If I set it to Medium always follow and I scroll the box all the way off the screen (which makes it appear on the other side of the screen), it will flicker and cannot be stopped without stopping recording (zoom toggle doesn't stop it).

Another GUI request:

Is there a way to reposition the box so that it is at the extreme east or west in order to get more working real estate toward the center of the screen?

With latest build you still have flicker?! I only had flicker with Large x2 setting (that's why it's not in the menu...)

Can you send me your config file?

hey alex is there any way of making a built in bubble, for making sure the camera is level? My tripod doesn't have one so it would be cool if that was possible.

Hey alex, could you put something in ML to make my girlfriend shut up? She's always telling me to clean up, and to keep my camera bag out of the hallway etc. If you could make it do I can just engage the "Nag Defeat" option, that would be sweet. Thanks.
