T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

Can anyone run chart test and take a silent picture then post here ?
Canon video is probably originally as silent pictures res - 1720x974 and then upscaled by ugly blinear algorithm to 1920x1080, here is silent still in 1720x974:

Here is frame grab 1920x1080p:

And here detail loss visible, first is original res, second is canon video grab (probably upscaled by camera to 1080p using fast blinear filter ),third is original grab upscaled by software with blinear filter to 1080p from 1720x974(so its the first one ,but upscaled to check if there is quality/sharpness loss)

IMO there is noticeable sharpness loss so... can anyone post resolution chart ?

Maybe the 5D silent pictures can tell that. They could have another resolution that might be related to the sensor size. Just trying to help.

It should take not lines but small dots R G B each dot from each sensor line so it wouldnt skip whole lines.Would be more like chess pattern or something and it would help with aliasing ,sadly canon engineers didnt thought of different patterns adn they rejecting whole lines.
First example is current skipping and second would be more efficient and aliasing wouldnt be that bad probably cause there would be pixel from all sensor lines.

this is sad =(

I don't mind. I only make 720p video. Mostly I resize to 720p but sometimes I crop a bit to emphasize the subject or reframe the scene. If the upsize part could be bypassed and we get 1720x974 instead of the upsized 1080p it could benefit quality.

Here's the latest build:

It may be a bit unstable, so please report any problem you find.

Hi A1ex,

Great stuff. The new font looks great and the info all the way down is also nice. I also have a Tamron 17-50 2.8, but I don't see any info about Focal dist and DOF values with AF/MF. I also tried the Canon 50mm 1.8mm. It does display 50mm. But nothing with focal distance. Also no info on my Tamron 11-18mm. Tokina 400mm same thing. I don't have any other lens to test. I tried this on the newer rack focus tamron version (magiclantern-2011Jan12.550d.fw109.tamron.alex.zip)

If you already have ML, unzip the new build on the card. If not, follow the install instructions.

I agree, I'd rather record a native 1720x974 movie mode in camera & upres in post, (if so desired).

A question for Alex, I assume the HD VRAM buffer changes resolution depending on if you're in 1080p or 720p video mode? It'd be great to record movies as a low compression jpeg image sequence for starters, then perhaps look to wrap this in the .mov container down the track...?

Question for you, Alex. If you want to revert to using the original firmware from Canon, are these the correct steps: Make the sd card no longer bootable, delete the magic lantern files, low level format the card, put the canon 1.0.9 firmware on the card, do the firmware update process in camera.

Second question is on the audio meters. Does anyone know how they're set up? Here's my guess: red and the audio is clipping (0db and above), yellow (-6 to -12 db), green (below -12db).

Third question is on the zebras. They're set up from the start so anything above 100 IRE or below 7.5 IRE is showing zebras? What would the upper value be if I wanted zebras at 70 IRE and above (for highlight exposure on the face)?
