T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

Okay nevermind got it working... but I'm confused as to the whole update process. If you just copy the newest autoexec over, will it have all of the previous updates? I thought I would have to go in and do 5 updates but if you just keep replacing the autoexecs it doesn't keep the other updates... So is it a pick and choose type deal or does it just get more and more added onto it each update

The magiclantern.fir file makes the camera boot off the card (if its a bootable disk/card). If its not a bootable card the camera runs normally. To update the boot files you only need to update the files on the card.

The only caution is DON'T start from a bootable card in that has no files! If it ever locks up pull out the battery, reseat it and try again.

So far its been very stable for me.

So after the last few days of shooting non stop with the ML t2i I have run into one thing which I consider a trade off that I'm willing to live with, I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem or not but on my camera when I try and shoot stills with the continuous photo mode I only get about one picture a second. Beyond that I have noticed that the record icon disappears when you first attempt to record something, I find that I have to press record, press it again to stop recording and then press record again to assure that I can see the icon in the upper right hand corner. I am about to shoot two features on this camera (As well as a GH13) so I'll be able to test further and hopefully some of these bugs will be worked out. Having the audio levels and zebra's are PRICELESS. Cheers to the guys over at ML!!!!

My camera is messed.
Ive been using my camera non stop throught the week; phots and videos.

The thing is, after a while the camera would freeze and nothing would work. I would have to turn the camera off and remove the battery before the camera turned completely off.
When I was looking through the pics/videos it would freeze after a while and I would have to do the same thing.

I just kept on freezing over an over.

I will now have to remove ML from my card and start all over and see if that works. :/

DDirector has returned from his all-important vacation, and so ends OUR vacation from hearing about his camera problems.

I've been using the crap out of ML since 1.0.9 was released and haven't experienced a problem. I also never took a still. Maybe it's a good idea to have a Non-ML card around for stills? I don't know. I didn't buy this camera to shoot stills.

Same thing happened to me. I just went to 1.09 stock 'n called it quits on ML for now.. I like the extra options, but my camera has been freezing as well and I just couldnt take it anymore..

My camera still has the problem of only taking one still every second even with non magic lantern bootable cards. Still, I've been using it to record video and, beyond the vanishing record icon, no problems to report.

I'm using the 1.09 'bug fix' release and haven't encountered any problems other than LCD refresh issues that are resolved by pressing a button here or there, oh and the crop marks not always showing up without doing similarly or re-SET-ing them in the ML menu.

BUT, I have not taken any stills since installing ML, so don't know if anything is affected there.

Loving the crop marks, histogram, zebras, and lens data. The AGC and meters are nice but I don't use the on-board sound.

Thanks for all the hard work ML masters!

Hi guys...quick question...anybody else having an issue with using Rack Focus?? It works perfectly fine with my kit lens...but when i put my 50mm f1.8 on it refuse to work and also it does not give the lens data with this lens?

It says 50mm but does not give me the focal length? just says 0cm no matter where i spin the focus ring...its a brand new lens? Any suggestions? I want to be able to run rack focus on my 50mm f1.8 lens...but its not displaying any lens data?

Other than that everything on the ML is amazing.

Any experiences using the intervalometer? Are there bugs, or anything I should prepare myself for? I want to try some timelapses but I am a magic lantern noobie.

Ive been going through pages and pages and many sites. Can someone point me out a link to the latest ML version?
I just removed the one I had completely from my camera. I am starting from scratch.

Thanks! :D

On my 50mm 1.4, it doesnt show any focus reading either. hmm.

Wow this is great so far, I'm loving the histogram, the zebras and the shutter speed options to control flickering screens.

I have only one question regarding the on screen draws... do they disappear for you when you hit record? Cause they don't for me and I don't find myself shooting motion in a dark street with the blue zebras going around like crazy.

Problem is, if I set ClrScr to 'Always' to only use the tools when needed, the 16:9 black bars also go away. Is this a common bug or only me?

Right now my solution will be to set up my shot and turn histogram and zebra OFF when i'm ready to roll.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!

I turn the zebras off when shooting. You can turn each on individually off in the menus.

Mine is up and working now fine! Thanks bbwd!

Question. In order to take full advantage of the kelvin settings, do I need some kind of kelvin meter? I just can't say this enough. ML is freekin awesome.

They sell color temp meters for a but load of money, but its just a good tool to have if you want to make the shot warmer or cooler, or if your auto wb isn't working well.
Its not a tool that is needed, but one that gives you just that little bit extra control.

Yep, I see where that can be really useful. Thanks.

Or, if you know the exact colour temp of your lights you can match it quickly.

Kelvin meter is there (sort of). Point the camera at something white or gray, then press Q button on the kelvin entry in ML menu. It will auto-adjust the kelvin value.
