FEATURE: Magic - A Matt Sconce Film

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but I didn't have the slightest idea who the guy you sent the script was. I don't even recognize his face. Is he up for a lead role or something smaller?
I have an umbrella...:)

He is up for a large supporting role. I sent you a list of where you might have seen him. He has been in some of the biggest movies in the last 10 years and is currently highly visible due to a large 3D film he was in and a very popular cable show he is in. Maybe we just watch different things? Anyway, since I can't discuss him publicly yet, pm me if you have any more questions. Best, Matt

Thanks! Just sent the script off with a bit of our promo package and the teaser DVD. It should arrive tomorrow. We shall see! :)

Just got an email from the A list actor. He got the MAGIC script and will call me after reading it. Exciting! This goes to show networking is good. I was able to get the information about Magic to him through an awesome connection at the Action on Film festival. :cheesy:

For the computer gurus - the specs for our Terminator editing station::kali:
(New hard drives just came in and we are about to rebuild to the following specs)

Hardware:
Dual I7 Quad core 2.4 ghz (Straight 8 cores-16 virtual cores), 24 GB of Ram, 7 terabytes of space (4 Raid arrays), Quadro CX video card optimized for Adobe CS5, blu-ray hd-dvd Burner and another dvd burner, dual 27 inch flat-screen monitors.

Software:

Next steps for the future:
Upgrade the 2.4 processors to overclocked 2.9 ghz, Get a red rocket video accelerator, and jump to 96gb of ram. :cheesy:

Impressive specs Matt. What does task manager list your memory usage as when you're doing some hard core editing, processing and rendering? I'm debating whether or not to stick w/ Mac as a post platform or just go to PC which is really cheap to trick out and build an amazing system from.

I have maxed out my 24gb when I was hardcore AE rendering massive amounts of layers, trapcode particular and optical flares all at once.

 Terminator 2 is apart and getting upgraded. Ahhhh... his eyeball is glowing, he flexed his robotic fist and sounded like Arnold! Oh, nevermind, Matt karate kicked him and all is well...

Terminator 3... Rise of the Machine!

The computer is functioning well. I am still upgrading programs to get it ready to rock in the future. It is amazing how having a fresh beautiful computer can make you feel so hopeful about the upcoming projects. Our estimated budget is almost finished. It is the last block standing in the way for our launch to investors. As soon as it is done we start our all out push for Actors and investors. It is like the chicken and the egg. Which will come first? We shall see! :)

How much creative control will you guys have, and how much are you allowed to do yourself? IE, if it was me, I'd want to direct, run camera, and edit, but I'm not sure how well that'd go over with investors on a larger budget like you're looking at

Right now we have full creative control. We are producing and I will direct. I will have an editor, dp, stereographer, vfx supervisor etc. While I will be integral in deciding edits and lighting feel and such, I only want to wear the director hat this time. Union crew will handle the rest like most big budget movies. I just need a team I trust.

Same page.

Our Aftershock Studios computer, TERMINATOR 3, has been upgraded to increase rendering speed, and now we have set it up for being able to run 5k RED footage and to do 3D programming. New clean hard drives, windows 7, Adobe CS5, Maya, Vue, and other 3D softward are installed. Matt is working on the Maya stuff. It is pretty powerful.

I just love the Adobe software. On that note, I am having lunch with the VP/GM of Dynamic Media at Adobe this Friday, Jim Guerard. We are working together on helping Yosemite High School go wi-fi digital.
