FEATURE: Magic - A Matt Sconce Film

David Fine's Letter of Intent just arrived. How exciting! I agree with you Brandon, David was great in STRICKEN. Heck, he is just a talented guy.

Up to scene 17 page 21 on the shooting script. It is enjoyable 'seeing' the film come together and to imagine how the camera will see it.

We are excited about what is going on with Magic. :cheesy: Some big names have been approached (we are waiting to hear back) and we are on our way to approaching several more. I have a conference call to discuss these things with Kerner Studios tomorrow. The imdb site for magic should be live in 2 weeks and the script has been submitted to two film festivals.

UPDATE:

Tom Elliott "Stunts Unlimited" is now attached as the (Stunts/Stunt Coordinator) for Magic. He has been involved in the following films and many more:

Due Date, Year One, Fast & Furious, 17 Again, Hellboy, S.W.A.T.,
The Italian Job, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, A Man Apart, The X-Files,
Heat, The Hunted, S1m0ne, The Fast and the Furious, Rat Race,
Dante's Peak, Eraser, Waterworld, Scarface, and many more. He was
nominated for 2 Primetime EMMY's for the stunt coordination on the
hit show, Criminal Minds.

Had a great call with Eric, CEO of The Kerner Group. We are planning on filming MAGIC next year and releasing in time for Christmas as it fits with the inspirational hope theme of the holiday. We also have some opportunities to approach some A list name talent that is exciting. We shall see how it goes.

We have completed the shooting script up to scene 25, page 34 of the 91 page script. We worked very hard on one of the huge important scenes and it will be really cool.

Matt and I finished blocking and planning David Fine's character Earl Jones' first freaky scene. So twisted! You will love it David!

We are getting some really good responses to solid investment in the film. More later on that.

We received permission to shoot MAGIC teaser trailer footage at a key location for our Saturday shoot. We will be in three locations on Saturday... Busy, busy day.

I will be doing an early morning set up of the 21' Hypercrane at one external location then will do two other shoots; one a dark dimly lit room and another two scenes at my home. There we will shoot in a special black screen room and a green screen room with a second story shoot down. We will be shooting on the GH-1(3).

HooooooRah! Here we go again!

MAGIC TEASER TRAILER SHOOT:

We started the day at 4:25am, loaded up the grip trailer and headed to the graveyard in Oakhurst where we met our little star HannaH Eisenmann, her brother Stone and her parents Zadrina and Al who run our co-production team of AREA 9 productions. Troy Ruff arrived with his small crane won from WestFest, and our grips from STRICKEN James Nelson and Shanna Strange arrived.

We shot 'sticks' shots of HannaH as Rachel Ward and Al stood in for the police detective John Michael complete in costume. (As well as a producer he is the prop master for Criminal Minds.)

We shot steady shots, rolling running dolly shots, crane shots from the 21' Hypercrane, and some spectacular shots from the SpinRig mounted on HannaH.

We are now in an office complex doing shots of HannaH doing magic in a huge dark room with smoke, incandescent hair light for heat and cool action.

Tonight we do green screen and more magic tricks at my house, then we are finished with our footage for the teaser trailer.

James Mierkey is working on the score for the teaser trailer at the same time.

This is so fun! More later...

MAGIC TEASER TRAILER SHOOT WRAP!

We just wrapped all the shooting for the MAGIC teaser trailer. We got some amazing moments of illusions with HannaH Eisenmann performing them.

NO VISUAL EFFECTS were used in any of the magic done in the trailer. HannaH will be doing the tricks live as we do the film. We will be helped by DEXTER MORGAN, WAYNE HOUCHIN and our own MATT SCONCE in performances.

Matt, Troy, Al, Zadrina, HannaH, Stone and I are all very tired, but the stuff in the can is pure gold.

Can't wait for you all to see it. --Gary

The room picture looks awesome with her at the end of the candles.

I love the reflection in the table top. The interesting thing is the table top is jet black, so the reflection is really cool. Those aren't candles they are pens she is going to move with magic. With the magic input from Matt Sconce and world famous magicians, we are going to really have some wonderful 3D scenes in the film.

I have to reiterate, there will be NO VISUAL EFFECTS used in the magic in the film. It will actually be done by HannaH Eisenmann as Rachel Ward, not by some visual effects person or computers.

But the premise is that the girl is really using some supernatural powers to make these illusions occur, correct? Not slight of hand like any street magician would?

Screen grabs look cool. Same cemetery as Stricken?

What do you hope to accomplish with the teaser?

Yup same cemetery. We hope to use Mountain View Cemetery in Pasadena (the one used by Criminal Minds) for the film to make use of the larger tombstones and the mausoleums. It is really creepier there.

We are making this teaser to give investors something visual to get them more excited about the project.

Having a short teaser will allow them to conceptualize the project more thoroughly.
