I think the idea was that the story is one long car chase pretty much. I'm super excited but also a bit worried that it will be too much action and explosions. My favourite is still the first Mad Max, it's more of a dystopia on a psychological level.Absolutely agree, impressive! I'm skimming through, but I don't want to ruin the movie (SPOILER ALERT: looks like there's a big car chase in the desert).
I would certainly hope not. That was the failure of several imitators. If you count the minutes of action in the Max Max films it actually isn't that much, but the impact is greater because of the way in which the films build up to them. I might be one of the few who really liked the humanity and statements on society and civilization in Beyond Thunderdome, but it is what gave that film great resonance for me. I do wish the action in the film could have been bigger, as the final sequence was disappointing after The Road Warrior. Perhaps the simplicity and purity of The Road Warrior is what made it so great (Gas = Life, what is one's purpose?), just like in many ways the original film was a revenge story, hence the "mad" in Mad Max. I think there may something about water in this new one just as there was gas in Road Warrior, and the women in the gauzy white dresses look like some biblical nymphs. Who knows, but I don't want to learn any ore until it hits the theaters so I can take it in for myself.I think the idea was that the story is one long car chase pretty much. I thought you said no spoilers, Egg Born! Haha, I saw a glimpse of your post before showtime and I gotta tell you, that's about the only thing spoilerish I went into the theatre with. And boy, are you right. I have a new-found appreciation for Mel Gibson's acting in those three original films. Especially 'The Road Warrior'. A high percentage of his acting is body language given the lack of dialogue, and Gibson was just gifted in that department. It's not the Thomas Hardy is bad, but the bar has been set so high and all we're doing here is trying to re-invent the wheel....it just doesn't work for me. No memorable lines (I can think of about 4 good ones from Road Warrior off the top of my head) Hell, it really is Theron's film...Max is hardly the driving force here. The bad - Tom Hardy is not Mad Max. Not even close.
Thank you.His accent is all over the place, the presence just isn't there
^ Yeah....just like they did in the first 3 films, right? Crank up the teals and oranges? hahaha. Did the desert look desaturated in "Thunderdome"?I read something where Miller commented that they felt they had a choice for the look because the dessert all looked so plain and the same everywhere one looked. It was either saturate the colors or just drain it all to black & white

People bothered that Max wasn't the focal point of the story must not have watched the other films that closely. He was really only the focus of the first film.
