As i bask in the glow of my new macbook pro... i realize there are a few things missing.

1- the pcmcia slot i often used to offload my 16gb cards
2- The firewire 400 is gone too.

I've yet to buy the express adapter and I'm shooting this weekend. Does anyone know how to offload directly from the camera to the laptop. (will usb connection work on a macbook pro 2.4ghz)

I've been setting up field storage to a gtech mini 320 gb hard drive connected via a firewire 800.

If you have the newest MBP, and it's not the 17" model, then don't count on using an expresscard adapter because the expresscard slot's gone too.

Yes, just use USB Device mode. In the early days it was recommended to use firewire device only, but with the latest MBPs USB device seems to work well too.

My MBP was a replacement (applecare)

I think i got the last of the stock with the express drive. But hey you can't complain. Apple offered me a new computer for 300 bucks. I had a powerbook that was 4 months out of warranty when the display went.

Thanks again for the info BG. Enjoy the 4th.

I'm going home to play:)

USB2 works fine for me on our MBP and MacPro.

I actually prefer it because no longer do I have to risk any blown FW ports.
