I prefer matte screens as well because of the annoying glare you get with glossy screens.
However, if you get a glossy screen, you can then put an antiglare film on it if you really need it, whereas a matte finish will always be matte and cost you some sharpness and brightness.
I definitely love the colour and depth of the reflective screens, but as re1000 said, the reflections on the screen make it very difficult to use in most normal operating conditions.
I have a matte finish on my PowerBook screen and it is sweet. Definitely not left wanting for sharpness here.
for editing you need to get the matte. It is more accurate to color. The glossy enhances the picture. If you are not ediing the glossy looks better for gaming etc.
Of course the glossy one is not so good in many conditions, but when I work at optimal conditions at home, its just superb and thats where I want to use it
And if the sun is really shining you cant use the matte aswell. It was also crap.
Im just speaking of glossy and matte in general, never used a macbook.
