Macbook (not MacBook Pro) Duel Adapter???

So, I just sold my MacBook Pro today but I have a duel adapter sitting on my kitchen counter because I had planned to use my MBP for capturing... so, here is my question. I could save a bunch of money if I got a regular Macbook and not the Pro... so does the Duel Adapter work on it too or is it just for the Pro?
There is another/bigger question here of simply can a regular macbook run FCP, which i am pretty sure it can't due to the graphics card, but perhaps I could just use the MacBook for capturing and then take the footage up to my edit bay at school for editing.
thanks guys,
let me know

won't work with a mb they dont have PCI slots as far as i know and FCP will run ok just get one with a fast processor and bump up the ram the video card doesnt have much to do with fcp other than handling some graphical stuff like text. Motion on the other hand will suck, runs completely off the graphics card. Good luck!

as far as i know (non-pro) macbooks do not have an expresscard slot. so the duel adapter is a non-starter.

you CAN run FCP on a macbook. maybe not color or motion but fcp will be fine. you will also have to work from the internal hard drive because the mb only has fw400 and usb2 connections and neither of those are sufficient for fcp dvcproHD.

for what its worth, i use an old powerbook G4, 1.0ghz for p2 transfer and basic fcp6 work in the field and it works great. so your macbook will be fine.

Yep, Express Card 34 slot only exists on the Mac on the MacBookPro.

MacBook with fast processor and RAM will run FCP. Won't run Motion or Color.

i use a macbook to run final cut pro, you just have to change a text document in the program to say that the video card is agp instead of pci (or vice versa i forget) but can be found on google easily, i also run after effects perfectly (although im not doing much 3-d work with it at all)
my macbook is a 2.16 with 2 gigs of ram and suprisingly renders quite fast

okay, so is there any way to capture the p2 on a macbook or do i need to make plans for buying another macbook pro... can i run straight into the computer?

If you are running atleast 5.1.4, then there shouldn't be an install problem

If you are running the PPC version of 5.0.4 or before, it isn't advised to run the proapps in emulation.

You can transfer p2 volumes by USB or FW connect, but that takes the cam out of operation.

Or you can use a p2 Store.

But without a PC Card or ExpressCard/34 slot, no way on a MacBook

Yea you can capture straight to a laptop using you NLE just have to set things up correctly I have used final cut to do so, and it works nicely.

The other option is get a used laptop with the PCMCIA slot and plug the cards in there I was able to get one from a friend for $250 (this is a windows laptop) the whole process is a breeze.

Of course lastly you can connect the camera directly to the laptop and switch it to PC mode and have the camera mount to the finder (while you copy the contents of your p2 cards).
