Mac users 108024pa

I just saw this thread. I used 108024pa for the first time for my current Twilightfest entry, and did not see anything of what this thread asks (HVX200). I noticed someone mentioned firewire capture. I dump all my P2 footage to an external USB drive in the field, then Log & Transfer on FCP6.

I have to say I really liked the results of this record mode, and will use it more.

Crap, well I was going to shoot my feature film in 1080pa, will some senior members of the forum please speak on this issue? I thought I was going to make a great film with 1920x1080 footage with the pa option removing the pulldown to get my native 1080p, but, I never heard of this issue. Well, since I am using the redrock micro m2 lens adapter, am I excempt from this problem since I zoom in anyways?

I've heard of it but never seen it and I shoot 1080 24pa all the time. But you should still use this mode regardless. Precisely because the HVX is not the sharpest camera, you want to shoot in its highest resolution mode. Especially for either big screen projection or film out.

Blowing up 1-5% in post will still give you more resolution that 720 mode.

Also, if you are making a "film" consider the following: there is no such thing as 16X9 "film". I always crop to 1.85 or 2.35. regardless. IMHO 2.35 looks much more cinematic and when I see the 1.85 bars on 16X9 footage (very minimal), I'm always impressed because I take it to mean that the filmmaker is thinking about cinematic aspect ratios and framing and not just making a movie on a video camera because that's what he grabbed and whatever it shoots is whatever it shoots.
