Mac Mini Recording w/battery?

I was thinking of purchasing a mac-mini, setting it up with an external battery, and using that for field recording with the HVX. Any comments on this idea? I know this may be a rather bothersome way to record but for the money, I could also use the mac mini for storage and rendering.
Would you recommend this setup or purchasing a single 4gb p2 and a battery powered USB drive such as the OTG?
 
I have a PPC macmini connected thru a DC-DC converter to a 14.4V 160wh li-ion anton bauer type battery (Global Media Pro)
It runs for about 5-6 hrs with a 7" touchscreen running from the same battery.

what touchscreen are you using?
