So assumig another company pops up that sells a computer that CAN natively run osx. They dont sell anything affiliated to apple, I go out by this computer and a copy of osx, your going to call me a thief?
I understand what your saying, but I don't agree. Are you going to call it theft if I put a chevy crate engine in my Ford? No because that would make you sound like an idiot.
And if you want to talk about theft, are you going to sit here and tell me you have never downloaded a piece of music online for free? Never watched a tv show on youtube or some other video hosting site? I highly doubt that is the case. So why now the big fuss about PAYING for an operating system and putting it on a computer you bought?
You say that, because a) it is not your product so why should you care and b) it is in breach of EULA.
If you spent 10 years developing something only for someone to circumvent your work and make it available on products you don't sell.. you'd want to have a little chat them.
(I realize I am coming off as the apple zealot... but damnit... Standing for stupidity and theft isn't what I do.)
Doesn't Apple exist for the sole purpose of selling computers to customers to make money? If Apple created a line of products that had prices as good as or better than PC prices, but had the software of a Mac, don't you think Apple's sales would go up?The main problem I have with this personally.. is so many people whining about "Macs are too expensive blah blah.. I'd own one if they were cheaper". ... It's apple's business to product its products.. which includes the full product, not just the hardware.
it is after all just business right?
Hmmmm. Interesting. It's amazing that Apple doesn't have any marketing types in their employ.Doesn't Apple exist for the sole purpose of selling computers to customers to make money? I was just playing devil's advocate to his point.Hmmmm. Interesting. It's amazing that Apple doesn't have any marketing types in their employ.rogar-BigGrin(DBG)
Apple sells itself as a vertically intergrated experience, which it is. Do people sit at home and complain about they can't afford a ferrari? same shi* different pile..
I'm fairly confident that Apple has restrictions in the software license agreement that comes w/OS X limiting what the end user can and cannot legally do with the software. Kinda like I can go to Best Buy and pick up ABBA's greatest hits, but merely purchasing the CD does not give me license to use the music commercially. This is incorrect. It is true I didn't develop Apple's software. In fact, aside from my iPod and iTunes, I don't even use it! Nor will I ever, most likely. Yes, it IS a breech of the EULA, and that is the ONLY problem. If this company had actually stolen the software and put it on their own machines, then I would understand, but they didn't. They pay for each software license they use. That means that Apple makes money on each of these systems.
You would be happy about it even though that person is now a competitor who can easily undercut you and run your business into the ground? If I had developed a product and someone wanted to buy it and make it better and get it out to more consumers, I would be happy about it.
Theft or stealing isn't limited to physical property. My point is not that this is right, it is that it is NOT theft, as you say it is.
There is no theft here. There is breech of contract.
Can you say it one more time? I'm not done being argumentative yet.:laugh:I'm done saying it. I am right, everyone else move along.

Poppycock!Sure, but only because it's late.
This is NOT theft! This is a breech of contract and can probably be considered illegal but to use the word thievery is wrong.
Poppycock!
Cool, thanks, I'm done now.
