i want to use my mac book pro for field use with hvx200 and looking into getting external HD
my question is what is the preferred portable HD?
i was looking at the lacie rugged and G-raid mini

my idea is to capture footage then download to external HD via p2 genie take HD home and edit using Mac Pro.

just curious to what is the recommended HD

i also have a older 17in macbook that does have a slot for the P2 card so i guess i will put P2 card in that slot /P2 genie to external HD at least till they come up with something for the mac book pro

If the files are going to be stored only on the external drive, then I'd look into RAID 1 drives for data protection. The G-RAID is RAID 0. The Lacie Rugged looks like a single hard drive, so no RAID.

Hi 911
I am currently using a Macbookpro 17 with a G-Tech 500gb HHD.
I record to internal HD then transfer when I get back to HQ.
It's a set up that is working very well for me but it is dependent upon how long your captures are going to be.

Kind Regards
