Lumix GH4 4:2:2 10-bit to What Recorder?

I am interested in the Lumix GH4 for pulling 4:2:2 10-bit video out the HDMI, but what recorders can record it? I am unclear on that. Sorry for my ignorance.

Keep in mind that all those recorders will record 1080p, not 4K. As of right now, there are no recorders that accept 4K via HDMI. That may change after this year's NAB conference in April.

People I've talked to expect the Odyssey 7Q to support 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 with a software-only upgrade. It's kind of a frustrating business model that Odyssey is using, selling you the product and then charging to unlock it. But the 7Q is really, really nice.

Je pense que ATOMOS fera une mise à jour du firmware payante ou non de leur enregistreur ninja et samurai blade en 4K 422 10 BITS.

You'd rather pay for every single codec licence, rather than just the ones you want?

I'd be surprised is Atomos uses the same business model as Odyssey, insofar as codecs. In my view, if 4K is to take off, insofar becoming the new norm, paying extra for the codec beyond the hardware won't survive. I could be wrong...but that's my 2 cents. I'll also predict that: 1) once Atomos, and others, drop their 4K recorders, we'll see significant recorder price drops and 2) the physical size of SSD's will diminsh along with prices.
