GH4 Lumix 12-35mm Out of Stock?

I've had a Lumix 12-35mm on order from B&H Photo Video for over a month now and it's still out of stock. On Amazon.com it says that it usually ships within 2 - 4 weeks. Is this lens really that popular, is there a shortage, or is Panasonic slowing production because of newer lens in the pipeline? Has anyone else had slow orders of the 12-35mm?

BH says new orders won't ship until Sept 15th. I was going to buy one the other day, but decided I would have to rent it for a series of gigs instead. I have no clue why this is.

It's the perfect, not really kit lens, kit lens. Meaning it's the first lens most GH4 users buy with their new GH4. It's sharp, parfocal, native, built in OIS, and has a constant aperture. What more could a new user want?

I think they are out of stock because they were recently on sale marked down from 1295 to 999. It is a great lens so many jumped at the chance to purchase one. However, I have my eye on the Olympus 12-40 which was marked down to 899 and is said to be as good as the Panasonic.

The 12-35mm isn't available because Panasonic hasn't been shipping the lens for several months.

The lens just isn't currently available.

mine was shipped from overseas for cheap from digital rev (of which I am not a part, and am not advertising or spamming, just trying to help fellow shooters)

just got mine via an amazon vendor (in the US) and I got it in 2 days (ordered day before yesterday) very please with it. so far.

Thank you for sharing that information. I am considering cancelling my order with B&H and going through Amazon. I can't believe it's taken so long for such a stock lens. I know that it's popular, but sheesh.

This is what I suspected. Thank you for confirming it. I wonder why. I don't want to buy it if a new, better lens is just about to be released.

No rumours on a new lens. I doubt they'll replace it either, it's clearly their flagship standard zoom.

Now B&H lists the Lumix 12-35 as Backordered with an expected availability of September 15th. Amazon still says that delivery will take 2 - 4 weeks.

I'm still very curious about why such a stock lens is mysteriously out of stock.

Probably because the Gh4 is selling like hotcakes and people are pairing it with the 12-35

When they introduce a new product Panasonic seems to many times under estimate its popularity. Hence the low inventories. I guess it is being cauious on their part.
