URGENT!

*Using the original videomic

I have to crank the db on the Magic Lantern to 32dB and the voice levels are still pretty low.
The mic is close to the person too.

Also. Even with AGC turned off, there is still noise.

To be sure. What should my levels be set up on the mic & on my camera?
- The mic is currently at 0dB. ML at 32dB

Have you had better results before with the exact same setup (including ML)?

Having used a T2i with ML and the original VideoMic, I did find that the VideoMic didn't output a signal that really drove the camera's audio levels... though, I didn't find it to be as low as you're experiencing. And the noise... that's just part of trying to get audio in a DSLR. With a hotter signal (such as the +20dB boost on the new VideoMic Pro, or through a JuicedLink box) you can minimize it, but it's always going to be there. The weaker the signal, the more noise you're going to find.

When's the last time you changed the 9v in the mic?

I recommend turning the gain back up on the mic and leaving AGC off on the camera. I just installed ML this week and haven't gone thru thorough audio tests. but I have shot with the VideoMic before ML, and I would imagine the mic at 0db without any AGC and trying to manually crank the Analog gain could be the issue.

The gain on the camera needs to be as close to zero as possible.

Turning it up that high will ruin your audio- you need external amplification. See the canon audio thread for details...
