Low-budget rap video

Here's a rap video we shot a month ago. We had a really low budget so we had only large worklights for lighting. I used my wdr35pro adapter with Nikon lenses and a Peleng fisheye. DIY skater dolly and jib also used.

Nice images!
The wdr delivers good pictures, how do you like the adapter so far?
And did you gel the worklights to daylight for the outside shots?
Good work badlaa!

Thanks!

Spartacus: The wdr35 has been a nice adapter, but there are few buts why I'm going to get maybe the Sgpro. First problem is its achromat which is not as good as it should be --> some nasty CA shows up in the interface of great contrasts. Also the build quality is not too robust. Other than that it is a great adapter to work with!

We didn't use CTB gels for the worklights because they would have eaten up the little lighting power we had. I just played with the manual Kelvin setting on the A1.

That is straight up BAD ASS!!!

A+++++++++

Great job technically and with composition.

Even your presentation in flash is on the money.

What settings did you use for your flash page?

Lol... Low budget... Limo, Guns, a cave, a pool, a nice lookin HD monitor but no light kit... Lol... It's funny to me the things that clients will spend money on and forfeit other things...

Anyway, really impressed with the lighting... Great imagery... Very well done... I love the use of the wiggler in AE... Really complimented the imagery... I am curious what NLE you are using (or whoever edited it) and what video monitor you guys are using in that picture....

I really liked the video in spite of the fact that the only thing I could understand was "Risky Business"... Great job...

the last scene was GREAT. Wasnt crazy about the pool sequecne. The initial into was great, the gir ldiving, then dolleying over to the guy rapping. But in the pool you had the ability ot paly with "steam" and light, visible shafts of light, shadows, compositional lines in the tiles, Colors.. etc. it was very nice, but it could have been the highlight of the video.

thanks,

dougster77: the actual reason we had only worklights is that we could rent all the gear at very cheap price from a local film school but they had all their lights going (other than the worklights) So we didn't have enough money to rent them from a "real" company.

By the way those "shocks" were done manually by kicking the dolly platform. I know it sounds funny but it worked fine :D

I captured the video with Aspect HD and then conformed the clips to Avids DNxHD codec. So editor used Avid and exported the finished cut as DNxHD mov - file. Then I imported it to After effects and did the CC work.

Monitor used (native 1280x720):

ESTEBEVERDE: flash encoding settings are the following

Codec: On2 VP6

Data rate: 1200kbs

Rez: 512X288

I must admit that the pool scene was the weakest part in my opinion too. It suffered a lot of the harsh worklight look. We also should have played much more with the water and the streams as you said.
