C100: Love Canon 50mm f/1.2 on my C100

I really like two moments at 1:09 and 2:09. I sometimes prefer a little slower cut but this is about personal feeling.

Lovely ! I'm sure your clients were over the moon :)

Exposure very well controlled for the sunlight.

How did u find the ND's using wide open f1.2 ? Or did u use shutter to keep it wide open?

The client was very exited! :)
I use Canon 50mm f/1.2 L at 1.8-2.0 , I find that at 1.2 it is too hard to find the focus, I do not use a shutter for controlling the exposure, because I what that blurred movement of the subject, I use Lightcraft WND filter and I could not think what I would do without it.

I liked it, I hope they did! I'm fine with the pacing, as this seems to be the style these days. Gives me a reason to break out the 1.2. I tend to think of it on my 5DMkiii, but I shouldn't ignore it on the C100. And yes, did you end up ND'ing it?

Nice job Alexander. Very beautiful. Perhaps we see a couple of the same shots in the forest a few too many times, but I am sure that it doesn't matter for your clients. I liked the idea of the two face to face at seperate focal planes and using the focus breathing to make it appear as if they were kissing. Very clever.

I like my Canon 50mm f/1.2 L, but I bought it only because I shoot stills some time, If I do not I would pick up one of old Nikon or Zaiss. I do not think that it is possible to work without variable ND outdoor when every minute lighting is different.

I was amazed at the difference in sharpness and clarity of the 50mm compared to the zoom lenses, like the 17-55. So much so I bought the 24mm too. Both take the C100 up a notch. Might look at the 85mm at some point. The variable ND filters help a ton.

I totally agree with you, the zoom lenses much better than any zoom lens.

I love the colouring. Mind sharing your secret?
First of all you should shoot your footage as close to the results that you desire. Because of the codec you can not play with an image too much. For the results I seek, I shoot in WD Range, manual WB, all my footage looking the same and I do not need to do a heavy color correction to match the footage looking the same. All my grading I am applying to the adjustment layer:
Midtones Reds: -10
Shadows Reds: -6
Reds Midtones saturation: - 20
Grain
