Lots O' Music Vids P+S 35mm...

LOL actually I feel much the same way. My Music video influences varry, but strong in there are David Fincher and Francis Lawrence, but also Michele Gondry and Spike Jonze.

It all comes down to what serves the client best. Most of these people don't want anything more creative. They want cliche, they want, "Looks like everybody else" because at their level they aspire to "look like everybody else"

MYself I generally go a different route but thats why forming relationships with the bands is so important to me. I feel out what their personality is and try and build off that. The band I am shooting with now, their video feels a little emo, even though they are harder then that but that fit the song and it was what they wanted.

The next video for them is a bit more creative/artistic. On top of that I came up with a video concept and bassically comissioned a new song from them to fit it, which they are working on.

It has always been my goal to work with the studio and bring that artistic aspect to it. Until I move back to South Florida that may not happen fully, but it will happen eventually.

Some of the videos look better then others, and that frankly is do to budget. They used to go all out on vids, despite how low a budget. I have the feeling that isnt the case anylonger, and frankly they shouldnt. You get what you out in. They make it clear what the client does or does not get for what.. if they are cheap, well...

But funny as it may seem I tend to aline myself with you Dimitry.. on the ther hand, their my boys and i am proud of them. Thanks for the input though, nothing can be learned from mindless back patting, only from ciriticisim do we grow.

It is true.. There must be a saying about this. Something along the lines of "Nevermind art and get rich or be artistic and starve". Hehe. Clients don't care about your artistic views, that's for sure.. I had to accept this when starting out in webdesign.
And yeah, I totally support brutal detailed criticizm as opposed to general "cool" and "great stuff". That's what I'm trying to get from someone on this forum, but so far no one has replied to my 'check this out topic', hehe..

NEW STUFF!!!!

Thats right, he posted some new videos... actually, most are old videos but I actually like them alot better then some of the newer stuff.

First this one is new http://homepage.mac.com/alexmia/iMovieTheater13.html
I will tell you straight up the compression DOES NOT do it justice. I have seen the final piece and MAN do the colors pop! The skin tones expecially, even in the bad compression this is some great looking DVX/P+S Telicine stuff.

Love this one as well, though it is older http://homepage.mac.com/alexmia/iMovieTheater16.html
The lighting in the clus is fantastic, nice rich blue with the red neon in the background, and the exterior stuff is killer as well though this is only a clip.

and finally this clip is from one of the first DVX/P+S videos they ever shot. http://homepage.mac.com/alexmia/iMovieTheater17.html
Don't know if you can see enough in this clip, but the lead singer looks alot like Fezz from "That 70's Show" LOL

There are a few other new ones as well as a Stacker 2 add that was 35mm enjoy.
