GH2 Lost a GH2 to water damage in Jurassic Park

Was it worth it?

Don't bring your GH2 on water rides without some sort of ziplock bag or water protection gear.

Ouch!!!!! Thanks for the advice man. That was some funny stuff though... right up until the point where the poor GH2 got killed. That reminded me of Triumph from Conan O'brien.

Sorry that happened. As a side-note I dropped my Olympus e-510 in a stream 2 years ago. Completely submerged for about 30 seconds. Thinking it was a goner I removed the battery, card and lens, put it in the basement next to the dehumidifier and forgot about it. Two weeks latter I fired it up and it has been working since, including the lens.

Put the camera away without the battery.. if you've got some silica laying around put that with the camera ... rice also works...

I lost a GH2 while filming a surfboat carnival... 2 weeks later she fired up again...

I've also lost a HVX202EN in the Colorado river .. once again the rice and silica brought it back ...

The one worry tends to be mould growing on the logic boards after the camera gets wet ...

Good luck...

(personally looking at the footage she was still running at the end so you'll probably find that it will dry out) ...

Cheers

Hey ... put it in a large ziplock bag filled with uncooked rice, seal it up and let it sit for a couple days. The rice will suck out all the moisture. Good trick with cell phones as well.

This to me is sort of a 'duh'... but just in case an other essential 'duh' has escaped you...

Exactly. One nice side effect is that then you can eat the rice and it will have a taste of extra GH2 awesomeness. If you do, your bowel movements might appear interlaced for a few days. Don't falter, my son, as your cr@p will once again be progressive in good time.

Progressive crap :)

Thanks and glad you laughed! In all fairness in explaining my stupidity - I had scoped out the seat that never gets that wet and been on the ride many many times. Every once in a while you get a bad hit of water and that's what happened. The camera did actually dry out after a few days and worked again though, and I have rice for a year!

Unlike the sony dv handicam that died from a wimpy 2gs on Mission Space a few years ago:

Glad you had some laughs and I am working on a pilot called "Sketchophrenic Street" that I'm going to launch via http://www.kickstarter.com/profile/blackout soon and hopefully get Gunther to be my DP so I can focus on acting and puppets, and ...rice.

The tone and accent reminds me quite a bit of Robert Smigel's Triumph The Insult Comic Dog.

Well it was originally done as an obvious parody. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog ----- so I did Trumpet the Complimentary Dinopup.
It was a one time joke when someone bought me the dinosaur puppet in Orlando and that then grew and people wanted more videos. I do have to give credit where credit is due, but it evolved to its own thing. I do get the occasional hate mail from a Triumph fan but that comes with anything you do original or parody. Would be fun if I could meet Robert Smigel and have Trumpet talk to Triumph - but that's one of like 9000 characters I do and probably a 1 in 9 million chance.
