mainly for stills but I'm sure I can get some video use out of it.

now just to preface, I cannot spend more than $200 or so on this. yeah i know, i'm on a tight budget. so i've found 3 lenses that seem pretty darn similar and want some advice from y'all!

Thoughts? Opinions? (YES if I had the money I would buy an L lens, or an IS lens etc. etc.)
:bath:

To my understanding from what I have read is that an IS of some kind is good for zoom lenses. 70-300 on a crop camera is very far, I think you can get by with a 50-200 zoom lens.

your gonna need IS , unless you would like to simulate earth quake footage.
So you'll need to safe some more ....or move closer.

Do you have the rest of your range covered? A quality 16-50 may serve you better than some monster zoom like that. Are you shooting birds?

I have a similar Sigma lens that is collecting dust. I'll let you have it for $70 plus shipping if you'd like, and you'll hopefully be able to take the money saved and save it for getting a better lens in the future. You don't absolutely need IS for a lens of this nature, but you'll need to shoot on a tripod if doing video. Adding IS to a tele lens costs a lot.

Here is the lens I have:

It is in good working condition, but does have one of the three "lips" on the front chipped. They are only used for holding the included lens shade in place, and the shade still works fine and is held in place, so other than the look of it there is no problem. The lens also came with a decent lens bag that it fits in.

Overall it is a very nice low priced tele, but I don't use it anymore because I have L series glass in that range now.
