Looking for GH2 RIG

barkley is made in china and it's not cheap. I would rather bite a bullet and go with zacuto. I don't trust those good looking rigs that fall apart after awhile.

Berkey system parts are made in MN and they are just as good if not better than Zacuto, and also half the price of Zacuto. Berkey makes some parts that no other company makes and they purposely make their parts to work well with other brands.

Sorry if this seems like promoting, but...

As the manufacturer of virtually all of the Berkey System products I can assure you that they are not made in China but rather Minnesota. I have never even been to China.

Why would anyone think China?

Dan

Berkley is out of budget, I don't care if there are better than Zacuto, both are out of my budget...

The problem with rigs that if you don't buy package you go to have a very good knowledge about rod system...

All I am asking is a bit help on building a configuration I added link few time.

Can someone give his opinion on this http://www.trusmt.com/en/proview.asp?id=68 ?

Even if it's not made in China Berkley(sorry about that statement), the dslr baseplate assembly with single quad is $314 with no rodes. Zacuto base plate WITH rodes is $399
I don't see big advantage buying the plate from Berkley, considering Zacuto reputation on the market and lifetime warranty .

adys,

Please save some money and buy a really good stuff. I was in your shoes going for a cheap crap. Believe me it's a waste of money in a long run.

I do like the look of the follow focus here, but there is no way to mount it on a tripod. I think if you are set at getting a inexpensive rig that is under $800 and includes a follow focus, you were probably right to think about shoot35. There stuff is pretty solid for the most part. The package you posted in post #12 would be around $740 plus tax and shipping. You're not going to get much cheaper than that unless you get pure garbage. But I strongly recommend saving a little more and get Berkey or Zacuto.

Thanks Brian.

Do you think its better than to take the deal from Shoot35?
I mean is this plate and FF are better for sure?

(sorry about those basic questions, I am new to all this rig equipment issues)

BTW, what is the vertical post I need to choose in the Berkey plate, and do they have a plate with fast release for the camera?

One more thing, its strange, in Berkey I can't see any international shipping costs, even not in the last step in Paypal before last confirmation.
I will contact them about it.

The Berkey baseplate and rods are a lot better than the Shoot35 ones. I have the Shoot35 set up myself and although it's decent quality, part of the baseplate is plastic. I've seen and played with the Berkey plate and I have some of the rods, it is miles better. The quality is as good as it gets. As for the follow focus, I'm not sure. It's from the company you were asking about earlier, so I put it on there. It looks like it's a knock off of the Letus prototype I saw at NAB. From the picture it looks good, but I can't vouch for them.

The vertical posts are the two post going up and down in the baseplate picture. I believe the ones shown in the picture are 1.5 inches. He lets you choose in case you have gear on the rods that need more room between the lens and the rods or room between the rods and the tripod plate. Some follow focuses and matteboxes have big knobs on the bottom that can interfere.

As for international shipping I'm sure He'll work with you. Brian Berkey is a really nice guy and Berkey System customer support is great.

You will be happy with the Berkey System parts.

someone mentioned cpmfilmtools and i dont see you looking on them. I highly recommend their stuff, affordable and very good customer service. they are also a dvxuser sponser and offer 10% discount to members. Email Steve and he will take care of you. steven@cpmfilmtools.com you can tell him Jambredz sent yah :D . I have their stuff and its very good and customizable and sturdy. Cant recommend it enough.

Ok I took a look, correct me if I am wrong, this FF is not looking in good quality like the redrock or the trust and I didn't saw any recommendation on it, on the trust there are a lot in this forum....

To my knowledge Adys thats a new product of CPM so it wont have much reviews. I have no experience with it so i cant tell you if its good or not. However going solely off build quality of my rig and and the quality of customer service i have received I'd have no problem buying it if i wanted a FF device. i'd guess its in keeping with the quality standards of the rest of their products. Do a search on the forum and see what people have to say and CPM....nothing but goodstuff. But as i said...i have no experience with the FF.

edit: on closer inspection I do not like the design of this tension belt FF. If they had a more traditional design I'd get it.

In anycase its not yet available I see.

Thanks

I will have a look on the other stuff, even that I am pretty sure I will go on the trust FF with rods plate and one handle from Berkey, and cowboy shoulder to attach like this guy did here (movie and photo)

I think this is better for me than to get full shoulder rig for a start, but I want to be able to expand later if the cowboy will not fit me.

I am not talking about money, it look more comfortable for what I need, I do not do productions, just want to walk around with my cam.. documentary video art you may call it. I even thought about getting one more video cam, but I think a good rig will be better.

If this cowboy will fail to deliver, I will add a shoulder part, I hope that my configuration will allow it. I will wait for Monday to consult with Brian from Berkey.

The Berkey Mikro Baseplate Assembly with Quad Block is listed with the 2.5" posts for $209.00, 2 15mm 8" rods would be $40.00 for a total of $249.00. How did you arrive at $314.00 without rods?
