I had a nikon 18-200 vr, I would really love a cannon lense with that kind of range but 50-150 will do.

I would prefer a constant aperture lens. IS or VC for video would be best.

Anything close? I have a Tamron 17-50 vc, its cool minus the constant malfunctions in the middle of my videos. Looking to upgrade.

For that range, no chance of constant aperture. I think Sigma do a 50-150 f/2.8 for DX sized sensors.

Yes, sorry. DX or APS-C are roughly the same. DX is the Nikon designation which most independant manufacturers use.
The problem is not at the long end of the range, but at the wide end. Trying to design a zoom to cover very wide to very long is nigh-on impossible, especially with constant aperture, and at less than astronomical cost.
Your best bet would be to look for two lenses , say 17/18mm to 50/55 mm, and 70-200 mm. This leaves a bit of a hole in the middle, but you should be able to get both in f2.8.
BUT, while the wide shouldn't come in at more than £800 (Even Canon's own lens), and more like £600 (Independants) a 70-200 f/2.8 is a whole different beast, budget getting on for £1800 or so.
Although I've given prices in UK£, given how we're stitched up over here, they're likely to be similar in US$.
