Log and Transfer with FS-100

I am working on a project and I can't figure out how to Log and Transfer numerous Content Folders from my FS-100... When I try to copy all the date from the FS-100 onto an external Hard Drive, my computer tells me that a folder entitled 'Content' already exists, which it does, from the previous day. So I renamed the Folder 'Content 4.19' to give it distinction. But Now my Final Cut Pro 6.0 won't recognize the Content 4.19 folder and continually just brings up the Content Folder from the previous day. Any ideas???

No, never rename the contents folder! You must rename it back to CONTENTS or FCP won't import it.

Put it within another folder (like, "Card 1" or "Card 2", etc.)

And keep each volume structure intact by copying the lastclip.txt file as well.

Review the manual for the FS-100. Each folder should contained the lastclip.txt file and the CONTENTS folder with its folders as well.

No renaming and a complete mirror copy.

Just my two cents here but if you are shooting to a Firestore and editing on a Mac with FCP why use the P2 setting when you can shoot straight to a quicktime file? Just wondering because I use a firestore and edit with FCP and I have never used the P2 setting, curious why you would complicate your process more than it needs to be. Is there a post production reason like the client wants it that way or something?

I had a 3 cam shoot and 2 of them were HVX. One ran straight into FCP using quicktime's DVCPROHD codec and another on firestore. The guy who had the cameras put the firestore shots into the quicktime DVCPROHD settnig and I couldn't edit it on my PC Premiere CS3...it was a pain in the a$$ until I realized I needed to spend $200 on raylight....it worked but I would have rather just have had mxf files instead of the quicktime files.

Not using the P2 setting

Not using the P2 setting

I am trying to set up a workflow to a firestore. We are shooting 1080p with a redrock, capturing to a firestore, then uploading to a harddrive and backing up on DVD.

But if we aren't shooting on P2 settings, my HVX won't let me set it up to 1080.

I would prefer to shoot straight into quicktime, but is it possible to shot it into quicktime 1080p?

Of course its possible. It is in the menu settings under P2 P2PN, Quicktime QuicktimePN and some others there as well. I sometimes shoot 1080 but mostly stick with 720/24pn quicktime. Now if you are a PC user or if all the metedata is important to you or your client then shoot P2 or P2PN. The FS100 just records whatever the camera sends to it, its that simple.
