Listening...

Black exterior is good. You don't want the camera reflecting off of car windshields too much when shooting gettaways. Now I know that you can always wrap it up... but with a camera that good-looking who would want to do that?

Black gets VERY HOT in the Arizona summer sun.

RED #? (Waiting to find out what number I got)

Welcome to "Club RED"!

I used to be based in Las Vegas. No doubt, summer shooting is a hot experience. Maybe one of those camera cool-paks would be the ticket...

Gibby's da man.

Someday I think he's gonna be filming in Afghanistan and get shot because he "was carrying a WMD called Red One".

Nah, one war is enough - I served a full tour in Viet Nam ('69-'70)

Yeah Adaml, life's been good to me! I've traveled for TV & film work worldwide, to 65 countries on all continents - except Antartica, which I hope to get to. Year in and year out I was on the road doing mobile production for about 10 months out of the year. It got so bad that when I'd finally come home and put my key in the front door of my house, the neighbors wanted to call the police because a "strange man" was entering my house! Family and friends always hated to hear where I was coming back from and where I'd be off to next. No sense of humor, those people...

I'd have never stayed married, so my wife became my production coordinator and we have traveled together for the past 12 years of my work.

Life's full of choices, and I'm way happy with this media nomad existance! With Mobile phones and a laptop my office is now with me wherever I go anyway...

BTW, my avatar shot was taken while I was director & DP for an ESPN International program we shot in China. I'm in Tienanmen Square in that shot.

Just for cool factor, please keep the front RED bezel that lights up on the final version of the camera Jim. Ofcourse, there should be a toggle on/off option in the menu system as well.

Why not also lit the interior of the camera, just like on RED.com front page design? It could be automatic feature, just a matter of one micro switch or infrared sensor in the bayonet. Simply, when the lens is detached, the RED light goes on. That would also simplify replacing lenses in the dark  The feature could be disabled from the menu option like this:
"Cool Factor On-Off *"
* - Not related to the on-camera cooling system

Camera body finish: I opt for dark grey color, not pitch black. Black cameras are so hard to find in the dark

Aaah Gibby...I wanna live like you do. A nomad with a camera. I sincerely hope I can shoot with you and learn a few things once my red comes. I'm a bit back in the line though.

No worries Opcode. You're just 3 hours south of me and I'm in L.A. all the time on business. Either down there, or up here on the Central Coast, I'd be happy to let you check out #8 when I get it, and shoot a little footage.
