Listening...

Jannard

Red Leader
We said that we were listening to feedback that we have received. We have shown "sketches" of what we were thinking about along the way. As of IBC, Sept. 8th, we will show a brand new set of "sketches". We think we have come a long way and some of the credit goes to the posters here on this board (don't ask for a royalty).

Our website will be upgraded and updated on Sept. 8th showing the new stuff.

I'm excited...which ya know, probably makes every one at RED finally realize that this project is so cool ;-)
Good luck in the next week Jim and company.
Peace,

Its very cool how we all get to experience the development of a camera, and offer input along the way.

Just for cool factor, please keep the front RED bezel that lights up on the final version of the camera Jim. Ofcourse, there should be a toggle on/off option in the menu system as well.

..what! nobody is going to want one if you take that away. its just pure madness ..crazy talk. youd be sucking out the very soul of the camera.
what a world.. what a world.

I still like a camera that looks like it could kill you if you piss it off. I want a camera I can take into intense documentary situation and have to be worryed about getting shot becuz someone thinks its a gun.

I'm serious I really want a mean looking camera a BFC if you will.

imgentertainment@mac, I'm not sure if that was a joke or not, but you really want to do the exact opposite in a situation which could get you killed.

Unfortunately but unsurprisingly news journalists have been shot - and some killed - because their camera was thought to be a weapon.

I know I'm saying it half jokingly and half not so much. I have shot some stuff and I'm shure all of you have the bigger bader looking camera seems to get you more acess to certain situation. Now I'm not saying that nice small less mean looking camera has its place. We use those more often the bringing out the Vari-cam or SDX900 on a documentary shoot. Beacuz those camera's are allot less intimadating and you can always shoot from the hip and tell them your not recording. Do what ever you have to do to get the shot.

But I still would mind having a camera on set that when talent keeps screwing up. I can turn the LEDs on the front and tell them that if they don't get this next take right it is going to eat them.

imgentertainment@mac,

I would say, IMHO, that you have been drinkin' too much beer as per good ol' B Franklin !

But I realize you are in Utah and would have to drink a SWIMMING POOL of that 3.2% stuff.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

LMAO that is awsome and your right you do have to drink a Swinning Pool or in my case smuggle it across the state line. I'm my own moon shine runner. Kind of.

Jim, a good thing to keep in mind is the texture of the exterior on RED....

A grilled exterior can be problematic for cleanliness.

I think it's also important to keep the lens mount as tight as possible to avoid dust from entering the sensor bay. I've had to clean out my DSLR one too many times due to dust on the sensor.

It would also be nice to include a stock detatchable top rail on RED. From the looks of it right now, it looks like one sleek/slippery bastard that may just slip out of someone's hands at any moment. I wouldn't even mind seeing RED becoming a bit more cube-like. A cube-like appearance would give it a simpler way of designing add-ons and mounts.

One of the things I wondered when I visited the red website and looked at the images is whether the camera will be black or metal finished as it appears in some pics. I kinda like the metal finish myself but I do think the Red team ought to notify aviation authorities about Red One because it does look a little bit like a sophisticated bomb lol.

When the dust settles we will post our prototypes at different stages of development. And we aren't done yet.
