Lilliput Monitor with HMC150?

Interesting thread. Given that I'd like another couple of monitors - one for each camera we use - the Lilliput would certainly save some cash...

What I am interested in through is all the variations people are using to mount them to the camera and/or tripod.

I have the Manhattan 8.9" monitor on one of the cameras and prototyped a simple right angled aluminum bracket to mount it temporarily. I added a couple of rubber feet to steady it (it flapped around a bit without it) and it seems to work well, but I do want to find a more permanent solution regardless of what monitors I buy for the other cameras.

So, who is using 'what' to mount these things? Mounts in the UK seems a little harder to come by - maybe I can find something at the BVE show next week, but I'm not counting on it....

I'm using a redrock mickro arm with a 1/4" 20 screw mount.

The 619 does not have RGB controls, only brightness and contrast. It'd be nice if it did that and could overscan...so far my only two nits. Still happy with mine.

My 12V battery from SmallHD is supposed to ship monday or tuesday. I'll let ya know how that works out.

Hrm... warning if you keep your battery attached, that little damn red LED will kill your batt after a day or so... heh

A lot of my shooting is fixed to a tripod. That's why I was going to use the super clamp to the tripod, then attach the arm to that with the monitor. I could probably buy something down the road to mount the super arm to the camera shoe though I would think. What do you think?

Did you pickup the super clamp? I am thinking about doing the same sort of thing, but would like to know how it is working out for you...(clamping to the tripod leg.) Do you need any adapters for the monitor also?

I shoot mostly in the theatre, so having the monitor lower than the camera is a great setup, and since I use the Varizoom PZFI I don't have to touch the camera much during a continuous shoot.

thanks

It works great, no adapters needed. The only problem is that the monitor does not thread very tight into the super-arm gooseneck. It's kind of wobbly. It's not going to fall off because it threads a little bit, but it's not super-tight.

Lilliput 619AH

Lilliput 619AH

The Ikan SH7 sun hood made for the V7000 just came from B & H, it fits on the 7" Lilliput 619AH and comes with Velcro to secure it to the monitor. Works good. My 619AH came with a Manual for a 619T/629T/639T which shows adjustments for for Color Temp and Saturation additional to the contrast and brightness which is all you get with the 619AH. Maybe the 619AH replaced those models.

New buys

New buys

My monitor has not arrived yet, but I ordered myself without the group discount that was done a while back.

I contacted the seller and asked for a discount, and they gave it to me. I received $20 off from the coupon that was posted in this thread and an additional $15 off, just for asking. I had already paid via paypal, and they credited my account.

Will post once the monitor comes in.

Question:

can you mount this monitor directly to the Super clamp, with the super clamp on the tripod leg? Just thinking about options before buying additional hardware.

Yeah, definitely a deal, I think I may order another :)

Handymus - The super clamp comes with a post with a 1/4 end... You can screw that into the bottom of the monitor and then put the post in the super clamp post holder. Downfall is you can't tilt or move the monitor around, and I don't know of any tripods with horizontal posts to attach too..

Finally got my battery from SmallHD last week. They were backordered and didn't tell me for a week. When it arrived, there were two batts in the box instead of one:smile:. I have the unit attached with velcro to the back of the monitor. Very nice, low profile, decent capacity batt that can be recharging while it is in use. I haven't tested the duration, but it should be > 4 hours.

DOh! You got 2?? Lucky :cheesy:

I am super happy with the Ikan battery plate for sony L batts... I have 3 things that use the same batteries now :) Otherwise I would have went with that smallHD batt, its a perfect solution.

monitor came in, need mounting help

monitor came in, need mounting help

ok guys...my monitor came in today.

Now I need some mounting hardware help.

Is there such things as an inexpensive articulating arm setup to mount to the top of the camera, so that the monitor can be moved to the side?

How about a simple attachment for the top of the camera?

If anyone can help, I am not sure where to look - or what to buy including adapters etc. Of course I don't want to spend an arm and a leg...

I am considering doing the super clamp with the heavy duty flex arm for the tripod leg, but would also like to take a look at an arm setup.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Terry, we posted a bunch of related solutions earlier in this post... You check them out?

Yah, I like the one that you have. Can you post a link to it? Does it come with the necessary 1/4" ends? Can you point me to a simple attachment for the top of the HMC150 to mount the LCD there?

Sorry, at the moment I am clueless on what to buy... :Drogar-KnockedOut(D

How about this Impact Super Clamp:

along with this:

This way I could either mount on the tripod leg, OR attach to top of HMC150? Would I need any other adapters?

Yeah, got the SmallHD, but the fun thing I'm using it for, beside the 150, is with my Koday Zi8. Makes a sweet little combination, if you were going to go real low key with the Kodak in the field. I mount a table top scissors tripod, fold it up and use it as a monopod for panning stability, and when I want to play back just plug in the SmallHD. It's very good and the color balance seems very close. I need to run some color balance tests with the rest of my gear. I'm bought it more for trying to see what the actual balance is like as my 150 seems to be shooting 1/2 to 1 full stop underexposed compared to my lcd. Has anyone else had that problem, or perhaps I need to do a bunch of tests with the settings files? Automatic exposure on the 150 seems to be close to accurate, while my eyeballing it seems to need to be overexposing according to the LCD on camera. The zebras, of course, have been my salvation until this external monitor showed up. Probably still will be.

Can you post a link to what you got? I haven't looked at the voltage on mine, but I would imagine the 8" would use the same as the 7".

Don't forget....

Don't forget....

To remove the plastic sheet covering the LCD screen. I had to actually open mine up and take it apart to be able to remove the plastic sheet, since the little tab that was stuck to it was absolutely worthless...
