Life expectancy of the DVX?

I got mine used in October 2010 with 48 hours.

Now, February 2011, lots of interviews later, it has 115 hours.

Got some servo zoom issues, but it fixed itself, no service needed.

At the college i attended they had 2 dvx100b's. One had 1400+ hours and was still running strong. (aside from the whole lens assembly needing to be rebuilt after a fall at 768 hours) the other probably had about 1600 on it but said 150 because it froze once and the hour meter reset. Both had head cleaning every 100 hours but never had heads replaced. Aside from the fall damage they never went in for anything other then head cleaning. they have gotta be about 5 or 6 years old by now. They were abused to. they got rained on several times and got dued pretty bad one. the DVX is a pretty strong cam.
 
3 1/4 years of dirt, mud, sand, salty ocean air, rain, snow and unknown fluids and other substances and my DVX is just now starting to show signs of wear. That is, the heads could do for a professional cleanting.
 
Hours on camera only records number of hours of usage on heads. Very early on, like at around 12 hours I started using DV Rack, (renamed to Adobe OnLocation when Adobe bought out Serious Magic), and recording directly into my laptop and have been using ever since. I expect my pair of DVX100As to last a very very long time while the laptop will likely go the way of the Dinosaur long before either camera packs it in.
 
A friend of mine has 2764 hours and still running smooth, only replaced the handle once and the LCD screen that broke on the hinge. No mechanical or problems further.
