Letus35 Extreme

Nah. $400-475 tops (including Israeli Arm) if you avoid the absurdly heavy Marshall.

Where can I find an HD monitor for that price? Point me to the right direction!

Back to the "topic," I spent about 15 minutes on the phone with Hien last night.

These guys are great - they have excellent customer service! I can't wait to receive my Extreme.

... have to apply filters to all of your footage in post...
As I said, AspectHD and 2-3 cheap capture apps currently flip during capture, and given the rise of such adapters Iam certain all NLE's will do so within a year.
I am not trying to be annoying, but having gotten caught up in the whole flip hysteria and then seen DVXUsers shoot great work such as "Heart of Now" and "Cayote" using HVX+Brevis+Monitors is giving me pause.

Nobody's saying that you can't shoot great stuff with the adapters that are already out. Most people will continue to do so, because they're already setup with what they need and the Letus' few improvements aren't enough to justify the switch over.

To some people it's really no big deal. There are workarounds for it all. However, some of us really just do not want to deal with the upside down image and the rest is really just icing on the cake.

Disjecta's low light footage was really my sell. Although that's an XH-A1, I'm hoping similar results follow with the HVX very soon.

the extreme is really impressive. I hope they're going to ship it with caps on it though.

they should offer that without a question.

You know I had to order one! Im at the end of the line though but maybe they have a bunch of them ready to go. I've always been a big fan of Letus.

I hope they lenghten thier 90days warranty to 1 year at least. At that price range most other adapter offer a 1 year warranty. I'm sure like Barry Green and the rest that has tested it said that this is a solid piece of engineering so why can't the Le Brothers back it up with a 1 year warranty instead? $1200 is not alot of money but still with a 1 year warranty it does get a piece of mind. Maybe they might give a 1year warranty when it is $1500, who knows?

Hi everyone

As I said earlier, I ordered two Extremes for my company. I just received an email from letus in which they give latest infos on the Extreme:

*************************************************

· Hex key for adjustment/installation (we changed so that it will use 1 hex key for all the screws)
· End caps
· Logo (will be where the switch is right now)
· Light switch brought to the back to avoid distraction to the audience and easy to be seen by the shooter
· 3 screws to the mounts
· 1 threaded holes on the bottom of the front of the tube to be ready for support system
· Choice of 72mm or 82mm ring (the 82mm is not a step up/down, it’s 1 piece native ring, so it’ll be better)

You will get yours in about 3 weeks with all these improvements.

No that sounds nice, doesn't it?

Just damn, I'm very impressed.

hi
I have sent an email but I have not received answer probably they are full of job..
I would to know if I were still in time on the 9 october (got the wage) in order to acquire the extreme at 1200$ and how much time employs to us in order to arrive in Italy...
ps: sorry for my english

grey apple, i think many people are in the same shoes as you, as to how long this deal will last. The tough part about figuring this out is no one has any ideas how many units have been sold, or how many he expects to sell before the deal goes away, hence, limited time offer.

True the Zeiss lenses are very nice. Sorry I didn't mean to poo poo your footage. Glad you understand what I was getting at.

I spent many hours with different setups with the M2 to get sharp edges and succeeded. The Brevis gives sharp edges out of the box ( well it did for me I must have a nicely aligned HVX200, so when I saw the soft edges on your footage it jumped straight out at me.

Ok, so I got a hold of the Zeiss lenses last night and I shot a test of the res chart. You can download the full res results at this link: http://www.235studios.com/comparison.zip

In that file you will find the Letus Extreme with the HVX and nikon lens that i have, then one with the Zeiss lens that I used, and finally you will find sample stills from the M2 that I had. The stills with the M2 were taken a while back, and while they were not taken at the same time, they were taken with the same gear - HVX, chart, and light.

What I did find out last night, that if you zoom in too far the image starts to really suffer from loss in edge sharpness. Also, I was not able to get the image edge sharp 100% like it is in the center- however, there was a considerable difference between the nikon and the zeiss lens- and an even bigger difference when compared to the M2 pix.

The Zeiss lens kicks but. The Nikons not bad, but I can see the edges on the right get softer. The M2 is not edge to edge sharp , and it get darker toward the edges.

Thanks for that.

So, the only form of customer service as of now is through email?

Just shoot an email to him. I guess I will be waiting a while.

Phone him. I just got off the phone with them. Try that at some of these other adapter places too for comparison.

Ok stop the presses. I just looked at their new adapter called the Letus Economy. Other than a new Condensor in the extreme (which I was informed by them wouldn't affect the image), an aluminum body, and the battery being inside the adapter, the economy is the same in everyway. Flips the image, same achromat, same ground glass, same everything except its plastic and the battery is held outside. Its also 900$ which makes it my choice...not the extreme. Paying that much extra for metal body, battery inside, and a new condensor that doesn't affect the image...thats just batty. Anyone else know about this?

Economy for me...definetly.

Let us know how the Economy works out, though. that's still something to be considered, if it really is the same exact adapter outside of cosmetic details.
