Lens with a long depth of field?

Is there a good lens that doesn't have a very shallow depth of field? Something that can be used for event videography persay?

Tokina 11-16mm @ 11mm will give you a good 12ft of DOF when subject is at 5ft - 16% in front, 84% behind. That's wide open at 2.8, too, for your dimmer events.

If you want a deeper depth of field, close up the aperture a few stops. Closing up the aperture means you won't be getting as much light, though, so you'll need more light to light the scene. Alternatively, you can go for a wider angle lens, as mentioned above, and get a deeper depth of field even at fast apertures, but that's only good if you want wide angles. It might be something of a compromise.

I assume you are already aware, but deep depth of field situations aren't a strong point for HDSLR's.

Thanks for the advice. I was planning on getting the Tokina down the road. And yeah Fluke I'm aware of that. I plan on getting the 7d as a supplementary to my hmc150 if I'm in a dark or tight area where I can't get my camera out for the shot.

Good good. Just didn't want you to run into any nasty surprises. I've heard very good things about the Tokina.
