T2i Lens Dilemna

Guys I'm shooting videos on my T2i and have been hired for music videos more often now.
I have a 50mm 1.8 but the crop factor is 1.6x its too much.

I was thinking a 24mm 2.8 but then I lose some low light functionality. I saw someone else shooting with a 50mm 1.4 and doing a great job. Which one should I get?

I'm thinking of getting the same thing for my t2i (50mm 1.4) and selling my 50mm 1.8 because me and this guy shot on the same night and his quality is a lot better - what do you think?

24mm 2.8 or get a 50mm 1.4 (I'll be shooting a music video in a party soon and want to have the right gear)

Is a 50mm F1.4 FD with an FD to E0S Adapter a viable option? Considering I mainly want to shoot video? it would save me £200 ($330)?

So... you're not happy with your 50mm on a 1.6x crop sensor, and you're considering getting another 50mm to replace it? You aren't going to gain any field of view, if that's your major complaint. Yes, the Canon 50mm f/1.4 is a better lens, though I've seen great results out of the "Nifty Fifty" f/1.8

If it's field of view that you're after, consider a 35mm lens.

Regarding Canon FD>EOS adapters... those add an extra glass element, resulting in light loss.

From what I have been told the FD lens are one of the worst options for EOS mounts. The adapter is expensive compared to others and you lose infinity focus at the end of the lens throw. This means that, depending on the lens, when you want to focus on something from est. 30 ft to infinity you have to stop before the focus ring is all the way or everything will go out of focus. I also believe the adapter has a glass element and you can lose up to 1 stop of light. Strangely the Nikon glass works very well. I use mostly M42 Pentax primes and if you find a well cared for lens they are affordable and make for great video. That being said this info has been circulating and even those lenses have seen a jump in prices.

My main lenses in order of use with my T2i are 55mm f2 SMC Pentax, Auto Chinon 28mm f2.8 and 200mm f3.5 SMC Pentax (tripod with little to no movement a must).

I own a 24, 35, 50, 85, 135, and EOS 18-55 and 75-300 EF. I almost never use them and rarely take all of them. I am considering the Canon L 24-70 f2.8 or the Tamron 28-75 f2.8. I want these mostly for photography but in quick paced Documentary/Event video it seems to be a great fit.

I have a nice set of zooms from sigma and tokina, covering 11mm-200mm and it's an ease to work with. Yes, focusing on those tiny marks can be tough but saves a lot of money and time not using the primes.

However, whenever there's a budget and time then go with primes.

The FD 50/1.4 is a bad option when SMC or Nikkor 50/1.4's are easily available and mount much better.

However, since you already find 50mm too long on a 1.6x crop body, then I would suggest the Sigma 30/1.4. It's the right focal length, fast and cost is reasonable.
