Cant wait to see real competition Vlog vs CineD or standard in DR advantages.
BTW I thought G80 has the same GH5 sensor but it is in GH4 and G7 group. Is it really same its known as a better one?
Thanks for your work!
Yes, I'll be releasing the Cine-D alongside the v402 updatePaul, will the CineD LUT be in the next version? Of course prefer vlog, but with the high ISO vlog bug will need to rely on CineD for a while in a number of scenarios.
Thanks for all your hardwork and insight! Also looking forward to your NR tests and how the GH5 processing may differ from the GH4 in terms of creating clean high ISO imagery![]()
V-Log has a two stop advantage for sure, if not more, with the GH5 in 10bit 4:2:2 space.Cant wait to see real competition Vlog vs CineD or standard in DR advantages.

I am hearing rumors that the GH5 has less dynamic range then the GH4 when shooting in 8bit. Any truth to this?
Where are you hearing this ?
No chance it has less dynamic range.I am hearing rumors that the GH5 has less dynamic range then the GH4 when shooting in 8bit. Any truth to this?
I'm still advocating NR -5 because it's much better to do a controlled noise reduction in post if needed, rather than having the camera do a quick and dirty noise reduction pass with no control.
I would caution against lowering the default noise reduction option.
First of all noise can be reduced most effectively with signals coming from the sensor, second noise has a strong negative impact on compression efficiency.
By lowering the noise reduction you will wind up having more compression artifacts. All you can do in post is to smear that out with the consequences of having a less effective resolution.
I would leave the noise reduction at default.
