So I think I've read through this entire thread and I haven't seen this mentioned yet: http://blog.josephmoore.name/2014/11/05/why-cine-d-sucks/
I think the main problem with this article is that in his tests, joseph messes with pedestal as opposed to just using cine-d but I've been getting vibes that cine-d may not be that great for the GH4 and that natural is better. Care to comment, mr. leeming?
That is kind of the whole point of the Leeming LUT. It fixes the color of Cine-D and makes it extremely accurate. Natural is nice as well but it is an even more baked in look in camera. When I have to shoot with my GH4 and GH3 I will use Natural because the GH3 doesn't have the Cine profiles and I am happy with it for the most part.
The argument the article is making is that using Cine-D eliminates information that cannot be regained in post.
The argument the article is making is that using Cine-D eliminates information that cannot be regained in post. So, a LUT wouldn't fix this sort of problem. That was more or less what I was talking about, is this claim valid or is it misguided because the author of the article was messing with pedestal, etc.
No one's sent GX85 footage yet, but if you want to do so, email me and we can figure out some settings as a baseline to build test footage from, and give you a free LUT for your troubles! A6300 LUT will be coming soon. It's the next closest to releaseHi Paul,
Has anyone sent you files for a Panasonic GX85 LUT yet? There is no Cine-D, I have been using Neutral with Contrast & Sharpening way down, and Saturation down -2 I think.
I bought the GH4 LUT's long ago. I recently bought a Sony A6300. I am still trying to decide whether to keep it- if I can manage the overheating with a rig. I'm looking forward to having matching LUT's if I keep it.
Great work. Thanks!

I tested VLOG at the county fair shot at 800-1600 and you tell me where there is Magenta blocking.

Then next night I shot a little industry gig in mixed lighting harsh conditions. Again, no magenta blocking using the LUTS from Neumann or Miller. (At least no more artifacting than one would see with CIneD or V)

This looks great! Very natural skin tones and colourshot this last week with 2 gh4's and veydra mini primes. It was lit with 2 kino divas and most importantly finished with LEEMING LUT!

Set your zebras to 105%, and follow my ETTR shooting guide, and you'll be well set to shoot with maximum dynamic rangeHi, I'd love to know how you determined your exposure for the SoCal video. I have to video a similar event this weekend, and I won't get the chance to try things out beforehand. Did you set your Zebras for a certain amount, or simply make sure that your histogram didn't reach certain values?
