GH4 Leeming LUT One – the best LUT for the Panasonic GH4

Hey Paul, would you consider releasing an instructional video on how to use your LUT for those with learning difficulties?
I can look into it. Is the manual not helpful enough? Do you want a screen capture type video showing the steps? The problem is, it would have to cover lots of different NLEs, most of which I don't use or can't use (eg FCPX).

Here's a quick screen capture showing where to use the LUT in Premiere CC, along with a quick curves adjustment:

From there, you can grade further, apply creative looks etc to taste.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Paul :)

Just posted a minor update to the manual (PDF v1.03) to let those people using Sony Vegas 13 know how to use the LUT via a free plug-in.

If you're not using Vegas, there's no need to download the updated manual, as that's the only change :D

Thanks to Vladimir Khodakovsky for the tip!

Cheers,

Paul :)

I haven't read all the posts... is the LUT coloration like "Perfect" now or what? I saw early posts where yellow was orangey and such.... does everyone agree now THIS lut fixes Panny's faulty color science? are there full chart tests somewhere?

Yes, v126 is basically "perfect" :D There are various pages with charts scattered throughout this thread; the upshot is that thanks to a lot of feedback from the community, and my own desire to get it RIGHT, many iterations were processed and beat upon until both the colour response and also subtle things like colour noise response etc were honed to perfection :)

HTH!

Cheers,

Paul :)

Purchased, but haven't had the chance yet to try it out yet. Any chance you'll be able to get your hands on a G7 and/or DVX200 to create matching profiles for them?

Purchased today!

LOL, I read the entire thread and enjoyed the journey.

I'll probably use this for a mini series i'm scheduled to shoot next month.

Best,

This is actually something I'd love to do!

So let me put it out there - if you have either of the G7 or DVX200 cameras and want a free LUT, please message me and I'll give you a bunch of parameters to set on your cameras to shoot some sample footage to test with. I will then match the LUT to the current GH4 LUT for easy post matching.

Thanks!

Paul :)

Quick promo video I shot for a cover song, shot in 10bit externally to Atomos Ninja Assassin - shot (obviously) in Cine-D with recommended settings, balanced and exposed as instructed in manual. Leeming One LUT applied, then graded with Color Finale in FCPX.

Same for this one, but then we converted it to black and white because of a client request, figured i'd post it anyways..

So, we spent most of yesterday getting things set up in our new studio (with green screen), and I figured that might be an interesting subject for some LUT testing. I've posted some stills below to show the effects of the Leeming LUT, focusing on skintone above all else. These were shot with the GH4 and suggested CINE-D settings, using a 50mm Zeiss/Contax f1.8 lens at f5.6. The camera ISO was set at 800, with a 1/60 shutter speed. All I did to these in Premiere was import them and drop the LUT on in the Lumetri panel. No other adjustments were made. I did also have access to a Ninja Assassin, which I used to grab 10-Bit ProRes versions of the exact same setup. Those grabs are also posted below.

Enjoy!
