Can someone recommend on a simple led light for the GH1?

I saw some in Ebay, but would love to get recommendation.

Thanks.

i have the comer 1800 and its great but beware of the screw mount as it will punch a hole in your cam. the comer 900 is smaller and well fitted for the gh1 and it wont punch a hole in your camera...ha yes i still haven't gotten over it.

Thanks guys

Anything under 100$?

Martti the lantern is cool, but I want something on the camera/tripod, and with a beam light.

I got something called LED-60 from a Hong Kong company called Falcon Eyes. The german online retailer Walser sell them under their own brand name. Also got a 3 package deal. The special about them is that they can be connected together and use Sony video camera batteries and pack quite some punch. I happened to have a bunch of such batteries for my VX1000 that I could reuse as power source, very handy. Otherwise I think you can find much cheaper options on eBay now. Search for LED + camera light.
I got 6 of those puppies actually and use them mostly on light stands - this is lit with two LED-60 from front and one back for rim light. Bit special standing in a public park in late evening and pulling off a shot like this with no electric power available.

Are these dimmable?

Nope. I have some small lamp filters in my bag, among them NDs which I anyway prefer as all those cheap dimmable LEDs change colour quite badly - mostly into a deadly greenish hue.

The one time I actually thought I needed to bring one down a tad while having forgotten the NDs at my office and couldn't back it off any more I just stuck a strip of black duck tape over a third of it. Works just the same as a switch :)

I'd go for the bigger one - more light, more battery. Please tell how they work. Be careful with the dimmer, most of these low priced LEDs go rather green when dimmed down. Great for zombie movies but not much else.

For those with a VideoUniversity.com forum membership (it's frequented by mostly event/wedding videographers), I bought one of those cheap Hong Kong 126 lights a couple of months ago just for grins, free with my eBay Bucks. I put a long review with test shots up here: http://www.videouniversity.com/forums/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=509141

A few others have tried it as well since then, and also put up their reviews there.

IMHO, basically it's a great light for the price. For a camera-mount light, I think the mount is horrible...but it is attached by 4 screws so you could easily remove it and perhaps make your own mount. I haven't bothered, since the light is really too big/awkward to use for weddings on my GH1...and I already have a nice TorchLED TL-50.

Of course like most every other LED light I've bought, the included tungsten filter kinda sucks, so if you were using this light in mixed lighting, you'll probably want a better set of gels to use with it.

I'm going to change the mount so that I can use it for off-camera lighting when shooting non-wedding/non-work "fun" videos.

But now I want one of those Coleman Quad-Lanterns...those look like fun! But more importantly...I think they would be smart to have around here during hurricane season. ;)
