I had one for my t2i, will the same ones work?

its those LCD viewfinder copies that you find on ebay and amazon.

I just picked up the LCDVF on glidetrack.com from $100 plus shipping. It was delivered today and I haven't tested it yet, but from what I read on the net, it has better optics than the knock-offs from China. From my understanding, the ones made for those Canon's will not fit the gh2. The LCDVF has a version called "16:9" which was made for the gh1 and gh2.

The GH2 LCD is so low res would it really make sense to make it bigger through magnification? I have thought about getting a LCDVF but have decided to try and shoohorn a zacuto eyecup to the GH2 EVF or get an external monitor via HDMI.

You make a good point, and certainly a point that could become more critical for me as time moves on. I decided to go with one because it also doubles as an additional point of contact when using with my manfrotto monopod. Truthfully, i've kinda already adjusted to the lackluster gh2 lcd, and mainly wanted magnification for focus purposes. I know folks on this board would probably disagree with me, but I have been satisfied my ability to predict how the color and exposure will translate in post.... but your point is spot on, and an LCD view finder is definitely not going to give you any form of reliable color/exposure when the source is skewed... Personally, I am working towards getting a SmallHD monitor as well, but for just under $100, the LCDVF isn't a bad tool to have in the bag....

I honestly have no idea how bad it is when magnified I just have read a lot of people hated it. I also have only thought about it for focus reasons also.

I used to absolutely hate the LCD thinking I couldn't even focus with it... turns out I needed glasses (spent a year on post for a project in a dark room editing). lol Its still crap but not as bad as I had first thought.

Let us know how you like the viewfinder. I picked up a viewfinder that said it was compatible with the GH2's LCD only to find it was too tall upon receiving it. Before sending it back, I did put it against the LCD to see if magnification would have any benefits. Unfortunately, the magnification just enlarged the pixels of the low-res LCD screen on the GH2 which made it harder to judge focus.

The GH2's EVF is very good, but it is still difficult to critically judge focus, so if someone finds a good LCD viewfinder for the GH2, I would love to hear about it.

I was able to test out the LCDVF (16:9) last night, and I think it'll be helpful under certain conditions. Obviously, it did not help with color or exposure at all. It does magnify the screen's deficiencies, but I was able to focus much better than when I was going off the LCD alone. I was able to find critical focus fast, but again, this is also considering that as a former musician/studio engineer, I am very comfortable with the idea of having to translate what you are seeing. If you are looking to monitor in a 1:1 transparent way, I'd skip the viewfinder and get a nice HDMI monitor.
