Latest GH2 Rig

Didn't realize I was entering my camera rig into a beauty contest. I've never been one to pick looks over functionality with my camera gear. Anyways, they sell those Cavision front grips at B&H and the customer reviews are all very positive:

In fact, pretty much the entire line of Cavision grips look like that:

Another variation with back grips added and a Sony 10/20 watt video light. Weight is dead center so holding this with the grips without the monopod or shoulder brace for short shots is pretty comfortable and not front heavy at all. Also holding one front and one back grip helps produce very stable shots on the monopod and allows me to use the follow focus at the same time when holding the left front grip. Works just as well on a video tripod using the grips with the tripod arms.

Use of the Gear Box extenders allow the GH2 LCD monitor to still swing out if needed while keeping the external LCD as low as possible and still being mounted from the bottom of the top plate. Extenders also allow the audio recorder to be higher and out of the way of the GH2 and also be mounted from the bottom of the top plate which leaves room for other accessories to be mounted on top of the top plate.

Sony PCM-10 audio recorder is in an ideal position for monitoring and adjusting gain or headphone volume while recording. Since it is on a adjustable ball mount it can be moved further out of the way if necessary.

Looking good! I mount my monitor high as well, I'm tall and I never really want the camera at my eye level. With the monitor mounted high I can keep the camera around my chest and have a direct view of the monitor.

This is on a tripod, but same idea.

Wow. You certainly got a grip... How about a top handle so you can carry it easily when not in use?
And it's fine to hold it with one hand while you focus?
Is it not a problem with the Sony monitor so close to you?

I already have 6 grips to choose from when I need to carry it, no need to add unnecessary weight with a top grip.

I don't need to hold it with one hand to focus. The left grip is next to the follow focus control wheel and can be easily adjusted back and forth with my thumb.

If you look at the various pics, I have the Sony monitor distance positioned to how I am using it. The pic on page 2 with the Cavision shoulder rest added shows the monitor much more in front using a longer friction arm.
