Laptop Question

Hello All
This might be a stupid question but I have to ask.
Please bear with me.
We will shooting with an HVX.
We will be using external hard drives and the editing will be done on FinalCut.
We will be using either P2 store or FS100,either way we need a laptop at the field to dump the footage to Hard Drives.
My question is since the final cutting will be done on Mac do I have to buy a powerbook laptop or can I use a intel Pentium Dual-core 2GB Ram 200GB hard drive laptop or something like that?
I neeed to buy one for the shoot in a couple of weeks.

Thank you so much

You can use a PC, but you will have to burn the files to a disk or transfer them to a external hard drive in order to read them on the mac.

Thank you so much for the fast reply.
We will have two external hard drives ( one for back up) and all the footage will be trasferred to the Hard Drives at the location.
Somebody told me that since the graphics are better on the mac when you use a pc it will not look as good. That's why I had to ask the question.
So that means no loss at all with pc at all ,right?
Thank you again.

That's a load of crap.

Using a Windows laptop with a PCMCIA slot is the ideal solution for offloading cards to hard disks, regardless of whether you intend to edit on Windows or Mac.

Barry:

I think he's referring to PC laptops that use integrated video/shared RAM chips rather than discrete video cards. The G4 laptops and all MacBook Pros have discrete video cards, while the MacBooks and many lower end PC laptops used integrated, shared RAM video.
