OTHER: --l Chum Per Hour l-- Dark Comedy Series

No worries, thx for the in-depth input. Tim named it. I actually called it "Chum for Hire" at one point myself so I get your point. Although I think it's fairly clear what it's about in episode one. If not, it really only takes about 6 minutes of screen time for the point to be fully realized.

One thing of importance though, the word "Chum" most definitely has a double meaning for this series.
Shark-bait is definitely on the right track for the second meaning. The first being a friend for hire.

The full ramifications of the double meaning/title will be clear by the end of the season, trust me.
I appreciate the feedback. If the title is your only beef.... I'm happy. Hopefully some of this clears that up.

Thx

Glad to see you doing this MAH. I've been considering shooting a few webseries myself but haven't nailed down a strategy yet. I feel a well produced webseries of thirteen 10-min episodes would be at least $15-20k. I'm reluctant to do that out of pocket. It looks like you've actually solved part of that problem by obtaining sponsorship. Impressive. You're a mod over at AVS right? I don't think I'd be able to get any significant sponsorship per se, so I was thinking of shooting the pilot (and maybe two more episodes) out of pocket. Then I'd cut a trailer, give the pilot away for free and go the Kickstarter route. Any advice?

Again, I'm excited that you're doing this as it seems that most people have given up on the webseries format and gone straight to low budget features due to the clear recoupment strategy of the latter. I enjoy the idea of longform storytelling (TV has surpassed film in the story and character department), so I'd like to go the webseries route if I can.

Looking forward to episode 3.

Hey, Duke!

We've shot this series out of pocket, which really hasn't been that expensive. The real cost has been food. That's about it.
Locations and everything have been free thus far. No crew to speak of so that cuts down on cost.
We feed everyone and offer them a slice of profits, if it were ever to come to that.

The way AVS is helping me out is by hanging the banners for free and offering up an iPad2 as a prize. Really generous if you ask me.

I've never done Kickstarter but that could happen done the road. It will probably depend on how Season 1 goes.
I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the web-series so fire away! Really though, this has been made for as cheap as they come.
We could use some funds though, that's for sure. Maybe Kickstarter might be in my future, who knows.

This is a very solid and professional seires. WTF is up with Wally?!!! He's crazy, man. Best line in this episode is when she says, "What is happening?!" Keep 'em coming. This is good, good stuff. Humor with a mystery. Did you shoot the finale yet?

Thanks, Marlon. There's a lot of little clues as to why Wally is the way he is. Even the shaking glass is a hint of something that will make sense soon. Shooting the last episode tomorrow! It's really the 4th episode out of 8 but we shot out of order. :)

Grabs look great and I agree with Matt. That location is awesome. Locations definitely make a difference. Glad you got it all wrapped. Congrats!

Thanks, guys. It feels good to wrap the season.
I've learned a few things along the way. Always nice to work on something that was a collaborative effort for once.

Cheers!

Very good episode Mike, the best yet! I love the bar scene and the dialogue with the bartender. the whole thing looks and sounds great, and i can now see where the plot's going. Did you have to ADR any of this?

Thanks, guys.

Matt, if you couldn't tell at a glance, I'm happy. ;)

There was a fridge compressor in the bar that ruined a lot of audio but we fought through it.

Cheers!
