Kick-Ass

It's too bad it doesn't seem to be making a lot of profit.

Wonder how much of it is because of the bad word of mouth that was going around and people having bad reactions to how much some loves Kick-Ass.
It's gonna be really interesting to see next weekend's figures, if people talk about it this week or going to see it again with some friends.

Honestly I'm not too surprised, not for my misgivings, but I think the concept and marketing is confusing for your average moviegoer. To the uninitiated it looks like a kiddie, teen superhero movie, but it's rated R, so it's not something the whole family can go see. It'll make its money back because it only had like a 30 million dollar budget, but it's not going to be a blockbuster.

Haven't read all of this thread, but I just saw the movie last night. It was meant for a bit older crowd than I expected. I was pretty shocked to hear some of the things that came out of Hit Girl's mouth. Wow. I feel for parents who's young daughter's use this as an example to 'add to their vocabulary'.

Anyway... Maybe it was just the print that I saw, but it almost looked like this was shot on digital. The highlights were blown out and very...video. Was it?

I feel sorry for the young daughter who's parents allow her to see this movie.

This ain't for kids. :)

Just saw this movie so.... SPOILER ALERT.

I liked this movie a lot. All the hoopla over the little girl was way overblown. Anyone who questions the little girls feelings (or lack thereof) over killing bad guys missed the fact that she's clearly brainwashed by her father. Hell, the term 'brainwashed' is even used.

I loved the part where Hit-Girl goes in and saves Kick-Ass (the first time) and not only is he horrified by the results, he goes home to bed, curls up in an almost fetal position and begins to cry. Not everyone is unaffected.

The end result and message is quite good. Even Hit Girl starts to see that the violence has repercussions.

Kids should not try to be super heroes.

In the end, it's a little predictable but I enjoyed the ride.

I would give it 3 out of 4 stars but I really dig comic book stuff. The crowd seemed to enjoy the movie though.
As for cheering on Hit-Girl? That was easy in the end. Those guys were evil bastards.

One last note, this was very different and I enjoyed that quite a bit. Not your typical popcorn flick and I bet this has a pretty good cult following.
