Keto diet

... Aside from protein/calories, your body is like a chemistry set and will guide you to nutritional balance.
More like an intuitional balance. Your body will tell you what works for your body and what comme ci, comme ça.

IOW, I've tried the low carb-high meat diet and I wasn't feeling the benefits. Too much acid for my stomach. I lowered my intake of some meats and added a bit more bread and a lot more fruits and vegetables. And that seems to work a lot better.

BTW, how big are your six eggs?

Sure. Do what works for your digestive system and gut microbiome. Though I'm not sure bread should be a cornerstone of anyone's diet.

Not big enough to keep my belly fully 24 hours later, which is when I'm still feeling low hunger levels (which I also attribute to the vegetables I've selected based on intuition and not reason). Meanwhile, I ate a substantially more voluminous and massive quantity of bread and yet didn't feel satisfied and then felt voraciously hungry just a couple hours later.

Carbs have a different burnout rate than proteins - you have more energy sooner but, if you don't exhaust it, the calories turn to sugar. Meats run flatter.

I think that's a radical oversimplification. There's lots of hormonal interplay (insulin etc). You're also flattening out the differences between digestion of bread and digestion of white rice. And white rice itself is basically just glucose, I believe. But glucose and fructose get digested differently. Gluten is a protein. And it disrupts digestion. Some nutrients go first to the liver for detoxification. Etc. Etc.

Ive had high cholesterol for ever - statins (being over 50) didn't agree with me - loads of muscle and joint pain. My doctor sort of was on a quest, and found statins that had no side effects - I went on a keto diet, without telling the doc. No carbs, no sugar, but high fat - so cream in coffee not milk, bacon, eggs, fried food, butter not margarine. Meat - so beef chicken pork etc. No rice, no pasta and an app on the Fone to read bar codes and only buy the A rated product, nothing else. Eat pile and piles of cheese. Had the blood test ready for my next docs appointment but did it a month early - she called me up and asked what on earth I'd done, my cholesterol had dropped massively - decided to be honest. She told me the diet and my statins were working together - all the bad fat turned to good fat, and because no carbs or sugars, this was my energy source. My moderate exercise (because of my bad back) was enough to initially lose a stone and a half - 16 down to 14.5, and it's stabilised at 15 stones - and she says the keto diet will carry on working - I'll get bored before I suffer any problems with it. being in ketosis or close to it is fine. She says it doesn't;t work for everyone, but I'm her only patient who has lost 21lbs by eating fried food and cheese!
